Senior Project Controls Engineer

Wood is recruiting for a Sr. Project Controls Engineer to join its Projects team focusing on delivering across FEED and Detail design scopes of work. In this role, you will be responsible for providing cost and planning support to projects during the Front End Engineering, Detailed Design, and Procurement phases of a project.

Position is based in Oman for a long-term assignment.

Responsibilities

The Sr. Project Controls Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Providing cost and planning engineering support for projects as required.
  • Developing and maintaining a Cost Time Resource catalogue for projects within your portfolio of work.
  • Developing and maintaining project control plans specific to the varied assigned projects.
  • Managing and maintaining Work Breakdown Structures, project controls systems, and interfaces with financial accounting systems within existing procedures and guidelines.
  • Developing and maintaining project plans and schedules using standard business software such as Primavera P6.
  • Implementing, practicing, and monitoring the Quality Management System (QMS) in FEED office projects in line with ISO 9001-2015 requirements.
  • Developing progress measurement systems and monitoring progress at agreed intervals, ensuring progress and hours spent are reported accurately.
  • Analyzing and assessing the project schedule and cost performance and advising the Project Engineer/Lead of deviations to schedule and cost, recommending corrective actions to maintain the schedule and/or cost.
  • Producing regular progress and cost reports, plus ad-hoc reports as required for the project.
  • Providing information for a database of cost and schedule historical data for benchmarking and KPI development.
  • Developing and maintaining a project change control register, assessing the impact of changes on schedule and cost, and advising the Project Engineer/Lead of such impact.
  • Attending inter-discipline meetings and project meetings with project teams and clients as required.
  • Creating demonstrable value for customers by understanding their drivers and critical success factors.
  • Capturing/applying internal and external learnings and incorporating improvements.
  • Delivering continuously improving performance, benchmarked as top tier in the industry.
  • Time writing correctly each week.
  • Ensuring own discipline work is successfully delivered on time with quality and appropriate reviews/checks are conducted regularly.
  • Contributing to excellent HSE performance throughout the project life cycle.
  • Maintaining effective interfaces and relationships within/between disciplines and peers in other projects teams and customers.
  • Identifying areas of standardization in own discipline and contributing.
  • Training and coaching own discipline trainees on project controls and providing awareness for other discipline trainees.

Experience:

  • Minimum 6 years in FEED/Engineering and minimum 10 years in oil and gas experience.
  • Engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification with relevant industry experience.
  • Good computer skills including MS Office, Primavera, and other planning software and tools.
