Overview

Wood is recruiting for a Senior Telecom Engineer to join its Projects team focusing on delivering across FEED and detail design scopes of work. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, implementing, and managing FEED Office projects and assisting IM&T (Applications, Telecoms, Computing, and Information Management) projects within scope, cost, and time.

Position is based in Oman for a long-term assignment.

Responsibilities

The Senior Telecom Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Studying, reviewing, and identifying the scope from the input document of the previous phase of ORP.
  • Developing Terms of Reference (TOR) for each project under the area of responsibility and in consultation with relevant IM&T Portfolio Analysts.
  • Developing CTR estimate and providing inputs to project execution plan/schedule for projects as necessary.
  • Creating and managing Project MTO of Telecom in SAP.
  • Planning and executing procurement activities as per the agreed implementation strategy and in line with C&P guidelines.
  • Reviewing the key project deliverables and liaising with the IM&T team ensuring the FEED Office standards compliance.
  • Supervising and ensuring alignment of Quality System requirements for all projects executed in FEED Office.
  • Actively involving in CI and Lean Management with regards to FEED Office procedures and project management.
  • Participating in quality audits and owning the responsibility of resolving any findings/NCR/improvements raised for Telecoms.
  • Executing allocated projects in line with the project plan, actively participating in all phases of the project. Identifying, assessing, and managing risks to the success of the project.
  • Maintaining, reviewing, and monitoring the project Cost Performance Index and Schedule Performance Index for the projects under execution.
  • Adopting and implementing project management best practices in line with directives from FEED Office, IM&T project office, and corporate guidelines.
  • Conducting and attending relevant workshops and framing sessions related to project execution in accordance with project schedule.
  • Providing input to project Value Assurance Reviews during major stage gates of the key projects.
  • Managing contractors as per the corporate guidelines stipulated under IMT-502 List.
  • Managing internal resources for the implementation of FEED Office projects and activities associated with FEED Office standards and procedures.
  • Managing and executing FEED Office projects. Ensuring completion within the agreed time scale while maintaining company standards.
  • Ensuring project handover and demonstrating the handover as per FEED Office standards.
  • Completing technical closeouts as per the FEED Office standards.

  • Graduate in Telecoms, Computing, Engineering, Science, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 6 years in FEED/Engineering experience and 10 years relevant experience in oil and gas.
  • Proven project management and leadership skills, and good knowledge of business analysis.
  • Excellent planning, communication, and presentation skills, and is an expert in project quality management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with the ability to persuade, lead teams, and build trust at all levels in the organization.
  • Proven track record in customer relationship management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant project life cycles.
  • A sound knowledge in Exploration & Production Engineering business activities is required or in-depth knowledge within a respective portfolio discipline.
  • Demonstrates ability to proactively seek responsibility and shows a systematic approach to problem-solving.
  • Possesses an in-depth understanding of IM&T practices, principles, and information and communications technology.
