Role summary

The Field Specialist IV u2013 Surface Logging Systems (SLS) will be responsible for delivering high-quality mud logging and advanced geoscience services at the rig site. This role involves supporting real-time data acquisition, ensuring equipment readiness and calibration, managing data quality control, and providing interpretation support to enhance drilling and reservoir understanding. The position requires hands-on operation and troubleshooting of advanced analytical systems such as XRD, XRF, CFM/CVM, EKD/Coriolis, and advanced gas detection. The specialist will liaise closely with clients, supervise field crews, train personnel in advanced technologies, and ensure timely delivery of accurate, comprehensive wellsite data and reports, in compliance with safety and operational standards.

Essential responsibilities

Advanced services specialist duties and responsibilities

  • Support the mudlogging field specialists at rig site and monitor in real-time the data acquisition on rigs and ensure that quality control is performed adequately on a daily basis.
  • Control the advanced data quality and identify and solve issues concerning data acquisition to improve data quality and acquisition conditions.
  • Ensure that all advanced services equipment (XRD, XRF, CFM/CVM, EKD/Coriolis, advanced gas system) and related hardware and sensors are properly calibrated, tested, and maintained prior to unit deployment.
  • Manage customer requirements: provide regular updates on service delivery and respond to client inquiries and concerns.
  • Record all advanced services jobs in terms of data quality and results with the related support documents (time chart, calibration files, photos, interpretation report, etc.).
  • Train the operators at rig site to enhance knowledge and help field personnel be ready for new technology deployment.
  • Self-development in interpretation techniques within standards established by the company. Training should be performed to reach and improve level of expertise.
  • Control and ensure the final well reports (FWR) are delivered on time.

Data engineer duties and responsibilities

  • Assume responsibility for the proper management of the mud-logging unit, including crew, equipment, and operations.
  • Understand and monitor all well site operations.
  • Ensure that all equipment is functioning properly. Perform regular and frequent calibration checks of instruments and routine maintenance as required on all equipment, particularly sensors.
  • Notify well site personnel of any anticipated or observed drilling problems related to geology, detection of a kick, or lost circulation.
  • Monitor parameters and trends according to the operation: drilling, circulating, tripping, etc.
  • Manage the database and ensure the quality and integrity of the well data; ensure that the real-time data transmission is reliable and meets requirements.
  • Establish accurate and comprehensive logs as per client's format. Update all logs, including standard SLS set, time logs prints, and plots requested by client daily and as required.
  • Ensure all information required for completing all daily reports is monitored, recorded, and available on time for inclusion into the final report.
  • Rig-up unit and all equipment as required, conforming to scope of work. Ensure all installations are performed in a safe manner.
  • When required, produce summaries of bore-hole hydraulics in use (daily and at clientu2019s request), using the appropriate calculation model for well site conditions.
  • Submit a detailed report of any equipment or software malfunctions to the base and report the action(s) taken to repair or solve the problems.

Qualifications / requirements

  • Graduate in science with geology as a major or engineering degree.
  • Minimum seven (7) years of total experience in mud logging services.
  • Out of seven (7) years, at least 2 years as field specialist.
