Established in 2001 as a partnership between Cornell University and Qatar Foundation, WCM-Q is part of Weill Cornell Medicine in New York. WCM-Q, the first medical school in Qatar and a pioneer of coeducation at university level, for 17 years of operation, we have been providing the finest education for medical students, conducting cutting-edge research, improving health care and provide the highest quality of care to the community. We are hiring for the position of Assistant Director, IPH.

The work and what it looks like…

You will manage the daily operations of the Institute in accordance with its objectives, and the mission of WCM-Q, promoting the well-being of the population in Qatar. You will manage and ensure efficient & effective operations of IPH administrative aspects, educational activities, research projects and community related programmatic activities. You will develop and enhance Institute policies and procedures, develop and foster relationships with local & global institutions, oversee the planning, development and implementation of IPH programs, Evaluate programs and make recommendations for enhancements, You will also guide & support the staff within the Institute as well as external stakeholders on latest IPH developments, lead the communication efforts of IPH, manage the submission of CPD & CME applications for IPH activities, lead and develop the team, analyse data and present best practices & procedures, you will also participate in teaching & supporting IPH and medical school education programs, support the preparation of presentations, researching of literature, and maintenance of IPH educational & administrative resources, and support the preparation of the annual budget and monitor the financial operations of the Institute.

REQUIREMENTS

You are a proactive problem-solver, with superb planning and coordination and advanced organisational skills. You are a multi-tasker, flexible and able to work independently. You hold a Medical degree (MD or MBBS), with at least 5 years of combined relevant experience as an administrator, public health researcher, medical practitioner in a clinical setting, medical school or health related organization, with previous global health experience, and preference to local health experience in Qatar. Advanced degree in Public Health (MPH/MSc/PhD) & prior experience working in a cross-cultural environment are desirable. You must have a track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals, and reports & articles of publishable quality, advanced experience with MS office products & data management software, and proficiency in written & spoken English. Knowledge of a second WHO EMRO region (Arabic, Urdu, etc.) language would be an advantage.

Candidates must be willing to relocate to Doha, Qatar for the duration of the appointment. Compensation will include a competitive salary with supplement for Foreign Service, housing and transportation.
