JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE

Employment: Full Time

Automation I&C Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of automation and control systems for wastewater treatment plants. They will work closely with the engineering team to ensure the systems meet the project requirements and are delivered on time and within budget.

Automation Engineer will be responsible in technical design services to execute projects for producing I&C testing, performance, training and design documents for industrial & municipal water and wastewater treatment and conveyance facilities projects.

Responsibilities:
- Design and develop control systems for wastewater treatment plants, including but not limited to SCADA systems, PLCs, and instrumentation.
- Conduct site surveys and gather data to support the design and development process.
- Develop control system architecture and functional design specifications.
- Program PLCs and HMIs to control and monitor various processes and equipment.
- Test and commission control systems to ensure they meet project requirements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues with control systems during installation and operation.
- Provide technical support to the operations team for maintenance and troubleshooting of control systems.
- Stay up to date with new technologies and industry best practices in automation and control systems.
- Collaborate with project managers and other team members to ensure timely delivery of projects.
- Conducting program extraction / modification / development
- Preparing presentations
- Attending internal meeting & clients meeting
- Providing on-call support when necessary during automation system breakdown.
- Provide I&C design to support process control and plant automation.
- Identify critical task process/mechanical and electrical disciplines concerns.
- Review unit process control logic in PLCs / OITs on a variety of platforms.
- Mentor junior engineers and designers.
- Completing, Implementing, and Directing testing and troubleshooting of process control systems

Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Understanding automation technology principals, including control system hardware like PLC, SCADA, HMI, RTUs and communication modules and application software.
- Understanding of various logic and its implementation on PLCs and RTU languages like ladder, FBD, etc
- Understanding of the typical process in pumping stations and control logic will be an added advantage.
- Understanding of basic telemetry network communication typically found in water and wastewater networks
- Ability to establish and communicate devices on various communication protocols like serial RS-232/485, Ethernet TCP IP, Fibre optic, GSM/GPRS, etc
- Problem Solving Skills, Fluent written and spoken English
- Driving license is not a must, but it is preferred due to the wide scope of QNCZ site.

Education & Experience:
- Bachelor Degree in Instrumentation / Electrical / Electronics or Automation Engineering
- 8-10 years minimum experience with at least 3 years of experience in the Middle East Region
- Hand-on Experience in program development, troubleshooting, modifications and commissioning of various control system hardware and application software.
- Experience in integration of field devices on various automation data protocols (MODBUS, DNP3)
- Experience in various data transmission protocols like industrial ethernet, Modules RTU, DNP3, OPC Profibus/Profinet.
- Experience in the water or wastewater industry will be an advantage
