Job Description

Reporting to the Safety and Security Manager, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • To monitor CCTV cameras, identify and report any suspicious activities, and ensure the overall security of premises. The operator will assist in the prevention of theft, vandalism, and other criminal activities by tracking real-time footage and responding to incidents.
  • Perform routine checks on the CCTV equipment and report any malfunctions or faults to maintenance personnel.
  • Ensure camera visibility is clear by adjusting or cleaning lenses as required.
  • Respond to all emergency situations and provide first aid and CPR as required.
  • Correct and report any fire hazards or health and safety hazards.
  • Report and investigate occurrences of accidents, complaints, criminal activity, and crisis situations.
  • Keep detailed logs of monitored activities, including time, date, and description of suspicious incidents.
  • Archive and store recorded footage for future reference or investigations.
  • Maintain clear communication with security personnel, management, and emergency response teams.
  • Provide real-time support for on-site staff and ensure procedures are followed in the event of an incident.
  • Maintain computer records of all actions in a daily activity report.
  • Assist guests regarding hotel facilities in an informative and helpful way.
  • Follow department policies, procedures, and service standards.
  • Responsible for all guests and colleagues within their line of sight, which includes the car park.
  • Be alert for fire hazards and unsafe work practices and unsafe conditions.
  • Be able to act according to all emergency response plans.
  • Maintain good public relations with guests.
  • Be present at all daily briefings and debriefings.
  • Know the position and name of every security officer on shift.
  • Maintain follow-up action to ensure adherence to schedules and work standards.
  • Primarily responsible for safeguarding property, employees, and patrons of the hotel.
  • Make detailed reports of all occurrences and incidents during your tour of duty. Fill in all incident, accident, and end of shift reports without fail after every shift.
  • Attend to all other relevant paperwork as needed.
  • When reporting for or finishing duty, security officers will notify the security manager.
  • When assigned for a particular job or function, security officers will be guided by job descriptions.
  • Security officers will not discuss or divulge department details or information to any other colleagues, outsider, or media failing which defaulter's services will be subject to progressive corrective action up to and including dismissal.
  • Security officers will be required to use common sense and make judicious decisions. The basic aim being to diffuse the situation as quickly as possible. They will be polite, diplomatic, and professional in handling situations, yet firm in upholding the Banyan Tree's policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (some positions may require a degree or specific training in security operations).
  • Previous experience in a security role or operating CCTV systems is desirable.
  • Familiarity with CCTV equipment, monitoring software, and alarm systems. Ability to troubleshoot minor technical issues.
  • Attention to detail: Ability to notice details in footage and identify suspicious activities.
  • Verbal and written communication skills to report incidents clearly.
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods while monitoring feeds.
  • Must be of the age that meets the legal drinking age of alcohol and in good physical condition.
  • High school education, hospitality security, and law course preferred or minimum three years in security in the hospitality industry.
  • Fire safety and first aid certification.
