Key responsibilities

u2022 Acts as a safety leader, ensuring EPIC contractoru2019s work complies with our client's life saving rules and all safety and environmental regulations of our client and the State of Qatar.
u2022 Report to the discipline construction lead/senior construction supervisor on main issues, events at site, progress reporting, trends, and recommendations for improvement.
u2022 Assist functional supervisor in review and/or approval of construction documentation, including method statements, JHAs, MARs, etc., and attend HSE walkthroughs.
u2022 Supervise all EPIC contractors piping (process and utility piping systems with various material pipe classes for above ground and underground piped services) installation activities based on approved engineering documentation and project schedule during construction execution.
u2022 Attend requests for inspections (RFIs) as per approved ITPs, including material receiving inspections in coordination with reconstruction supervisor, and sign off relevant inspection and test reports/RFIs.
u2022 Ensure the quality of manufacturing and erection works, dimensional accuracy, and accessory and inline items installed in the correct material design specification.
u2022 Lead the EPIC construction contractor(s) on all mechanical aspects of the piping works.
u2022 Supervise EPIC contractor during execution of piping installation, line check, punch clearing, hydrotest, and reinstatement at site.
u2022 Manage and lead final mechanical completion inspections and punch closing.
u2022 Supervise pre-commissioning activities to ensure safety and quality of completed work.
u2022 Undertake technical integrity and HSE reviews/audits.
u2022 Participate in process safety management.
u2022 Participate in PSSR and provide support to operations pre- and start-up activity where instructed.
u2022 Coordinate mobilization of contractors on site.
u2022 Carry out daily checks on contractoru2019s staff and work carried out during the previous day to ensure compliance with prescribed contractual specifications.
u2022 Possess good knowledge in reading and understanding P&ID, GA, ISOs, piping standard drawings (including support drawings), and equipment layout drawings.
u2022 Maintain a daily record of progress (daily diary) noting special comments. Report to senior supervisor work anomalies or contractual deviations committed by contractor personnel and recommend corrective actions.
u2022 Sign work permits on behalf of our client and ensure contractoru2019s compliance with work permits.
u2022 Participate in development of as-built drawings/documentation.
u2022 Accountable for supervising contractoru2019s work in progress, inspecting work, reporting problems, and preventing accidents due to negligence by enforcing our client's safety standards on site.
u2022 Liaise and report with the QA/QC inspector on quality-related matters.

Requirements

u2022 Bacheloru2019s degree or diploma in mechanical engineering from an internationally recognized university.
u2022 Preferably formal training in QA/QC functional aspects.
u2022 Candidate shall be a safety leader.
u2022 Minimum of 10 years overall experience in piping erection (underground and above ground), pressure testing, mechanical completion, and construction of oil and gas facilities.
u2022 Experience as an EPIC contractor supervisor is essential. Experience as a client or PMC supervisor is preferred.
u2022 Current experience in State of Qatar industrial cities and/or other GCC countries is required.
u2022 Piping inspection and rotating equipment experience is an advantage, as is inspection coordination experience.
u2022 Extensive knowledge of international and industry-specific piping codes and standards, including ASME, ANSI B31.3 & B31.1, SHELL DEPu2019s, etc. Piping, welding/NDT inspector certificates (AWS, ASNT, CSWIP, API) would be an advantage.
u2022 Extensive experience in pipe coating systems and procedures, including painting, galvanizing, wrapping, insulation, etc. BGAS certification would be an advantage.
u2022 Extensive experience in fabrication pipe spooling, pipe supports, and erection of carbon steel, stainless/alloy steel, uPVC and GRE/GRV piping systems, including pressure testing, pre-commissioning, and mechanical completion inspections.
u2022 Excellent written and oral English skills. Able to read piping drawings, P&IDu2019s, and manufactureru2019s instructions.
u2022 Specific experience in:

  • Greenfield/new build construction sites
  • Brownfield/live process plants
  • Permits to work, including isolation and lock out/tag out of live services
  • Tie-in to live facilities, including testing and integration to existing systems
  • Extensive knowledge in lifting plan and crane studies. If the candidate has an approved lifting supervisor certificate, it would be an advantage.
  • Stage inspection and testing of construction activities as per approved ITPs

u2022 Strong technical, prioritization, and management skills.
u2022 Good communication, influencing, and interface skills.
u2022 Proficient knowledge of computer programs (MS Office, Outlook, Excel, Word, PDF, PowerPoint, etc.) and engineering software applications relevant to the discipline.
