JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE
Key responsibilities
Act as a construction site HSE leader.
Participate in reviewing detailed design drawings, temporary works drawings, method statements, material requisitions, risk assessments, job hazard analyses, etc. Act as a delegated document approver where required.
Co-ordinate mobilization of contractors on site.
Supervise the EPIC contractors during the execution of construction activities at construction site.
Supervise and approve construction activities and co-ordinate various aspects of project construction including inspections, material submissions and working drawings from contractors, and processing documentation as required.
Attend requests for inspections (RFIs) as per approved ITPs, including material receiving inspections in coordination with senior construction supervisor, and sign off relevant inspection and test reports / RFIs.
Carry out daily checks on contractors' staff and work carried out during the previous day to ensure compliance with prescribed contractual specifications.
Handle all aspects of electrical and instrument construction activities including site investigations, site surveys, etc.
Report to our client's construction lead / head of construction as applicable, all main issues and events at site, including HSE, quality, security, progress reporting, trends, etc., and make recommendations for improvement.
CCTV, telecom works: manage and supervise installation of cable tray installation, cable laying, apparatus installation, termination works and testing.
Co-ordination of finalizing cable entries, cable routes, cable diversions, etc.
Supervise fiber optic cable installation and splicing works.
Supervise installation and testing of control junction boxes and panels.
Supervise installation and testing of fire alarm control panels, repeater panels and mimic panels.
Supervise and manage installation of fire alarm system cable laying, termination works and testing.
Supervise and manage installation of earthing and lightning protection works.
Supervise installation of lighting and small power works. Manage and supervise cable tray installation and fire alarm system cable laying and termination works.
Manage and supervise cable tray installation and instrument control and power cable laying and termination works.
Cable termination and loop checking.
Witness SAT pre-commissioning activities for equipment.
Good knowledge in reading and understanding equipment layout drawings, system diagram, etc.
Overall coordination with mechanical works, HVAC works, fire alarm and loss prevention system works, building services works, etc.
Maintain a daily record of progress (daily diary) noting special comments. Report to construction lead / head of construction work anomalies or contractual deviations committed by contractor personnel and recommend corrective actions.
Sign work permits on behalf of our client and ensure that contractoru2019s compliance with work permits.
Participate in development of as-built drawings and documentation.
Prepare punch list for finished work prior to handover to our client by contractor by paying special attention to all EHV equipment including quality checks.
Work closely with other construction supervisors (mechanical / architectural).
Report to our client's senior construction supervisor on main issues, events at site, progress reporting, trends and recommendations for improvement.
Accountable for supervising contractoru2019s work that is in progress, inspecting work, reporting problems and preventing accidents occurring because of negligence by enforcing our client's safety standards on the work site.
Liaise and report with the QA/QC inspector on quality related matters.
Liaise with the HSE supervisor on safety related matters.
Requirements
- Bacheloru2019s degree or diploma in electrical/electronic engineering from an internationally recognized university.
- Preferably having formal training in QA/QC functional aspects.
- Candidate should have a minimum of 10 to 15 years overall E&I construction experience in onshore oil and gas projects.
- In addition, the candidate shall have specific stated experiences in:
- Greenfield/new build construction sites,
- Brownfield/live process plants,
- Permits to work, including isolation and lock out/tag out of live services,
- Tie-in to live facilities, including testing and integration to existing systems,
- Construction of new sub-stations and control rooms, including building E&I services,
- Stage inspection and testing of construction activities as per approved ITPs,
- SAT testing of electrical and/or instrument/control systems.
- A minimum of 10 yearsu2019 experience as an EPIC contractor, including recent positions held to the level of superintendent. An additional 5 yearsu2019 experience as a client or PMC superintendent / senior supervisor is preferred.
- Current experience in State of Qatar industrial cities and/or other GCC countries is preferred.
- Familiar with international codes, standards and regulations relevant to the job function (e.g. QCS, ACI, AISC, BS / EN / ISO / ASTM standards, Shell DEP etc.).
- Must have good verbal and written communication skills to interface and communicate with internal and external departments, agencies, contractors and vendors.
- Proficient knowledge of computer software (MS Office, Outlook, Excel, Word, PDF, PowerPoint, etc.) and engineering software applications relevant to the discipline.
