JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE

Employment: Full Time

Structure and reporting relationship

The post-holder will report to the Contract Director and work in collaboration with the Director of Programmes and Learning & Development Manager.

Key accountabilities

- Maintaining (and improving) an outstanding level of service delivery
- Act as facilitator and mentor; able to direct and educate students to deal with complexity and develop their powers of analysis.
- As required, research, prepare and deliver course material to students attending courses at the OTI
- Plan, develop and deliver bespoke Courses at the OTI.
- Subject Matter Expert ME for specific course competencies e.g. Joint Operational Planning, Cyber Security, Capability Management, Change Management
- Undertake wider course responsibilities such as course writer/director and development, if so appointed.
- Understanding the cultural and ethical dynamic of operating with a middle eastern client in the military training environment
- Demonstrate and embed the Serco values

Directing Staff will:

- Be required to deliver Course material, teach and mentor students
- Be required to work as part of a close knit team that is line managed by the Contract Director.
- Be required to develop, design and deliver the course materials commensurate with their specialist knowledge.
- Adhere to safe, secure and ethical working practices in line with Serco values

Essential technical and professional skills , knowledge and qualifications

Demonstrates a knowledge of working in the Middle East with a Middle Eastern client in the military training environment

It is essential that the DS candidate has experience of delivering training in a UK military environment. It would be advantageous if the candidate is a graduate of JSCSC.

An understanding of the dynamics of a services/outsourcing business.

- Confidence and personal presence to interact with all levels of external & internal stakeholders and to build effective networks with the QAF customer.
- Adept at interpreting complex, changing and sometimes conflicting information, analysing it thoroughly and then developing logical, clear briefings for internal stakeholders.

Experience and a comprehensive understanding of the technical aspects of military training and in designing and delivering complex course material

- Strong influencing and ambassadorial skills
- Good presentational skills and ability to communicate effectively and comfortably with customers at a senior influential level

Stakeholder Management:

- Operates at multiple levels within the ABMMC with key stakeholders and influencers

Project Management:

- For allocated training activities within the programme:
- Creates/maintains an overall comprehensive Course development plan which is appropriate to the complexity of training and curriculum design, and support infrastructure development
- Organises and manages the Course development and delivery
- Identifies analyses and properly responds to Course development and delivery risks
- Responsible for managing and monitoring delegated allocated course budgets.
- Ensure compliance with the Serco Management System and all relevant business processes, procedures and work instructions to deliver all work with appropriate quality and governance standards
- Ensure security and integrity of all data provided including reporting performance, finance and customer information; reference Serco non-disclosure policy
- To exercise personal duty of care for their own health, safety and welfare and for those affected by their acts or omissions; reference SMS GSOP-HSE1-6 Serco organisational HSE responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all training requirements of Serco and ensure adherence to these requirements at all times whilst in employment
- Report any accidents, incidents, breaches or potential breaches to appropriate management or the speak up process
