Function Strategy Formulation:
- Compile a process safety management policy and implement the respective strategy for ORYX GTL.
- Design, develop and continuously review custom developed leading and lagging process safety indicators applicable to the operations of ORYX GTL.

Technical Process Safety knowledge and skills:
- Review and identify significant process safety risks in all areas of ORYX GTL operations, in order to mitigate the impact and volume.
- Advise ORYX GTL management on the most appropriate process safety technology and best practices to address significant process safety risks within ORYX GTL.
- Lead HAZOP teams for new projects or changes to existing facilities or processes.
- Conduct GAP analysis on ORYX GTL process safety system elements and documentation as per requirements of US OSHA 1910.119 PSM Rule, in order to identify areas of improvement.
- Implement and continuously improve the RBPSMS.
- Assist top management with the establishment and promotion of a Risk Based Process Safety Culture within ORYX GTL.
- Review and approve the design of new facilities to ensure that they comply with legislation as well design requirements adopted by ORYX GTL.
- Approve MoC’s prior to implementation.
- Provide the required input for the compilation of an effective emergency preparedness plan such as potential failures/ process safety scenarios etc.
- Continuously review, optimize and simplify the existing Management of Change process.
- Establish a common understanding of important processes such as Root Cause Analysis and PDA’s and compile work standards for such processes.
- Conduct investigations on process safety related incidents and report areas of improvement, advicing on waya sto mitigate risks.
- Enforce ORYX GTL’s Risk Based Process Safety Management System.
- Schedule and execute of regular process safety audits on ORYX GTL processes and systems.

Reliability engineering:
- Recommend and design the Safety Integrity Levels (SIL’s) applicable to the specific process conditions.
- Provide recommendations on the Layers of Protection required to effectively manage high risks.

Process Safety Training and Awareness:
- Develop effective process safety and awareness training programs for ORYX GTL.
- Promote transfer of best practices through the attendance of conferences.
