Senior Electrical Engineer

Job purpose

The Senior Electrical Engineer provides expert electrical engineering support to ensure the successful execution of departmental objectives aligned with company strategic goals. This role involves contributing to multidisciplinary tasks while maintaining a high level of technical proficiency in electrical systems.

Key responsibilities

Provide electrical engineering support across projects, operations, and maintenance activities.

Interpret and apply electrical drawings and components, including:

• Single line diagrams (SLD) and associated symbols (e.g., isolators, circuit breakers, MCCB/MCB).
• Schematic diagrams for PDB/LDB/415V LV switchgear.
• Components such as transformers, relays, UPS, motors, generators, and capacitors.

Apply basic electrical theory and calculations:

• Active/reactive power, power factor, synchronous speed, load/utilization factors.

Understand and apply relevant standards:

• IEC standards for switchgear, transformers, motors, and hazardous area equipment.

Promote electrical safety and hazard awareness:

• Hazardous area classifications, arc flash hazards, and safe work practices.

Support project teams by:

• Providing insights on current operations and maintenance practices.
• Reviewing scope deviation requests for risk and operational impact.
• Participating in factory acceptance testing (FAT) and site acceptance testing (SAT).

Job context & challenges

Operates in a technically complex environment with multiple internal and external stakeholders.

Expected to contribute to cross-disciplinary initiatives while maintaining subject matter expertise.

Qualifications & experience

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

Experience: Minimum of 4 years in an engineering role within the oil and gas industry.

Skills:

• Proficiency in English (verbal and written).
• Competence in relevant software tools and specifications.
• Demonstrated Electrical Engineering technical competencies.
