• Assist project managers to develop scope of work and conceptual design for existing facility improvement projects and new design and construction projects.
• Coordinate with other design and engineering disciplines, interface departments, and facilities maintenance.
• Support and mentors junior staff engineers to perform conceptual and preliminary electrical systems design, reviewing outside consultant documents and coordinates with other engineering disciplines and Project Managers.
• Overall design review or assist staff with the design review of power load summaries and Utility Power requirements.
• Perform specific project analysis and design of power distribution, grounding, lighting protection, backup power systems, UPS, lighting designs, etc.
• Perform general analysis and design reviews of Low voltage systems Telecommunications systems, data systems, and active fire alarm systems and how they are integrated into electrical designs.
• Prepare and manage project electrical engineering drawings and specifications in coordination with the design function and based on specific design criteria and in coordination with structural, mechanical, architectural and false ceiling drawings.
• Review technical drawings, specifications of electrical systems, and provide critique to ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and company’s requirements.
• Provide technical related direction and information to the company’s Facilities Project Management and maintenance crews.
• Ensure design and construction compliance with International Electrical Code (IEC), Fire Codes, other applicable codes and regulations.
• Prepare and interpret specifications, drawings and regulations for the use of electric power equipment.
• Decide on the appropriate type and arrangement of circuits, transformers, circuit-breakers, cabling and equipment, based on design intentions.
• Design and produce drawings of electrical systems using Computer-Assisted Design (CAD).
• Review materials related to electrical engineering and ensure its compliance with contract requirement
• Supervise and assist the design, installation and commissioning of new and revised equipment
• Manage all aspects of engineering work during commissioning and startup phase, including investigation, specification, training, budget and documentation.
• Evaluate existing field installations and recommends design modifications to eliminate electrical or system malfunctions.
• Identify gaps in the electrical engineering plans and designs agreed and address the concerns to the related authorities to review and discuss.
• Provide engineering technical or management topical instruction, expertise, and problem resolution for department related activities.
• Monitor and approves work conducted by contractors, vendors, and outsourced providers.
• Undertake Electrical building services engineering design, from Concept stage through to production information at tender stage.
• Monitor and ensure that activities and operations within the electrical work projects are in accordance with company’s policies and procedures and report any discrepancies.
• Provide electrical engineering innovation and problem solving also implements current technological solutions to project designs.
• The incumbent will undertake any such related duties or responsibilities as directed.
• Ensure high standards of confidentiality to safeguard any sensitive information.
