Overview:

We are looking to hire a senior mechanical engineer for an oil and gas operator in Doha, Qatar. Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in mechanical building services engineering (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, drainage, irrigation, building compressed air, building medical gas), utility network layouts, onshore/offshore oil and gas installations, with consultant, contractor, and/or client lead background. Fluency in English is a must.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide technical design and engineering services in mechanical building services engineering for all assigned engineering projects, achieving the technical quality of work in accordance with procedures whilst considering quality, schedule, cost, and HSE.
  • Ensure the required technical assurance practices, engineering standards, environmental and safety policies are incorporated and followed in work scopes and whilst conducting mechanical building services engineering activities.
  • Review technical deviations and variations to approved guidelines, codes, standards, and practices.
  • Directly responsible for ensuring mechanical building services design and engineering consultants and contractors deliverables comply with requirements.
  • Assess and approve or recommend suitability of mechanical building services engineering submissions by consultants and contractors.
  • Single point technical responsibility and accountability for assigned projects within mechanical building services design and engineering area of authority.
  • Support engineering department to review, update, and apply standards and amendments to external standards.
  • Plan and coordinate activities of a team of multidiscipline engineers for providing timely delivery of technical services to meet project requirements.
  • Coordinate engineering designs, develop and review multi-disciplinary work scopes for projects and other engineering activities. Ensure the work scope is comprehensive and clear.
  • Review and approve method statements developed by contracted organisations for scope compliance. Liaise with contracted organisations to resolve technical issues.
  • Develop, update, and monitor schedules for in-house engineering activities, contribute to external FEED and EPIC scheduling activities, and effective project delivery.
  • Conduct evaluation of technical bid packages for scope compliance.
  • Responsible for evaluation, assessment, and recommendation of new vendors proposed during project phase.
  • Qualifications:

  • Bacheloru2019s degree in mechanical engineering, building services engineering, or building environmental engineering.
  • Chartered or professional engineer status or equivalent is preferable.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in mechanical building services engineering (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, drainage, irrigation, building compressed air, building medical gas), utility network layouts, onshore/offshore oil and gas installations, with consultant, contractor, and/or client lead background.
  • Proficiency in use of design software such as Carrier E20, Hevacomp, and knowledgeable in drafting software such as AutoCAD.
  • Experience in construction, commissioning, and start-up activities.
  • Experienced working within multi-discipline and cultural environments.
  • Experienced in resolving technical challenges related to mechanical building services and adjacent discipline issues.
  • Ability to prioritise and conclude multiple tasks in a timely manner to meet scheduled deadlines alongside unscheduled urgent activities.
  • Ability to coordinate with and promote teamwork amongst stakeholders, co-workers, and external organisations.
  • Fluency in English with good verbal and written communication skills and proficiency for conducting presentations.
