Primary Roles and Responsibilities
- Ensures team member adherence to generally accepted engineering and design practices, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications.
- Supports the standardization of equipment specifications, drawings, and document templates.
- Contributes to the understanding of technical knowledge, legal requirements, and customer specifications whenever viable and lawful.
- Supports document checking and design verification tasks for compliance to company and project specifications.
- Technical supervision of project designated mechanical designers and draftsmen in the execution of their duty.
- Prepare of specifications, data sheets and other information covering Rotating equipment and system packages.
- Performance of bid evaluation and vendor document review and approval
- Manage studies and mechanical-rotating-orientated projects as assigned.
- Preparation of technical requisition, stipulation of inspection and testing requirement and documentation
- Supports Lead Engineer in monitoring quality activities and takes action where required.
- Assist Project Team in project documentation such as proposals, estimates, budgets and schedules.
- Gathers data from multiple sources and prepares engineering studies, analyses, calculations.
- Determines technical issues, defines alternate solutions, establishes pros/cons for multiple solutions, and makes recommendations through official project documents such as technical queries, technical deviations, etc.
- Perform discipline specific engineering services such as:

a) Identify and report changes to project scope.

b) Contribute to appropriate studies, analyses and recommend actions.

c) Assist with the preparation of detailed designs and drawings.

d) Specifications, data, calculations, and reports.

e) Provide assistance during procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.
- Perform engineering design deliverables, including rotating equipment selection and specification, design development in collaboration with designers and coordination with other project discipline.
- Specialized knowledge of API-610 (pumps), API-617 &618 (compressor), API-682 (Mech. seal) and statutory and regulatory requirements and a good understanding of onshore and offshore engineering practices applicable to mechanical engineering design for oil and gas/refinery/petrochemical facilities.
- Analyze integrity data, identify hazards, and make recommendations for mitigating risks.
- Evaluate integrity assessment results to identify the need for additional preventive maintenance, the need for rerating of the equipment, determining the remaining operational life, determining the optimum re-assessment interval and appropriate re-assessment methods, and any rehabilitative efforts to maintain asset integrity.

Quality Assurance
- Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance systems.

Safety
- Responsible for personal safety safe working practices. Understand and follow OH&S procedures.
- Promoting health, safety, and environmental awareness.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

Technical and Industry Experience
- Minimum 12 years of mechanical design in onshore/offshore oil & gas industry in a brownfield environment with focus on rotating equipments.
- FEED and detailed engineering experience is essential.
- Recent experience in an engineering consultancy in a multidiscipline environment is essential .

Education - Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:
- Full-Time Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
- MME (Ministry of Municipality and Environment) engineering accreditation is a mandatory requirement. Candidates not holding this accreditation must be willing to achieve this within the probationary period.
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or undertaking the same will be an advantage
