Purpose

You will provide mechanical engineering services to Worley and its customers, including technical support and supervision within the mechanical engineering team.

Responsibilities
- Deliver mechanical engineering services that meet Worley', its customers' and applicable statutory and regulatory specifications, on time and within budget.
- Initiate, manage and if required supervise mechanical engineering project requirements.
- Perform mechanical engineering services such as:
- Participate in relevant meetings, prepare progress reports and follow required checking procedures;
- Ensure the project scope is clear and that changes comply with project change management processes;
- Provide assistance and advice during procurement, construction and commissioning activities. For example, write requisitions, conduct technical bid evaluations and write purchase orders.
- If required, act as the mechanical engineering Lead on specific projects.
- If responsible for a team:
- Outline project requirements including actively promoting workshare, where appropriate, assign tasks and supervise progress;and
- Ensure the required services meet Worley,its customers and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, on time and within budget.
- Proactively resolve any discrepancies between Worley and its Customer's requirements.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest developments and technical innovations in mechanical engineering.
- If required, assist and support junior personnel within the mechanical engineering team.
- Communicate effectively with the mechanical engineering team and project stakeholders, including the Customer.
- Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and ask for assistance when required.

Key Accountabilities
- Ensuring customer and statutory requirements (including HSE) are identified and addressed in the design across all Purchase Orders and Portfolio
- Ensuring technical integrity of the discipline's deliverables through the implementation of checking and design review activities in accordance with the DTDPs and suite of checking procedures available on the IOP, ref. section 8.1.1 below
- Proactively seek an understanding of the safety hazards and risks associated with the asset lifecycle of the designed product, plant or structure
- Ensure appropriate documentation is in place to satisfy occupational health and safety common law duty of care
- Preparing discipline man-hours estimates for new proposals and projects and the development of deliverables lists
- To deliver the disciplines design deliverables within the man-hour budget
- Planning of the execution of the discipline's activities to maintain project schedule
- Manage quality and consistency within and across the disciplines via implementation of Worley quality procedures and supporting quality spot checks and technical peer reviews and implementing their findings
- Provide technical direction, control and supervision for engineering and design within the discipline
- Manage interfaces within the discipline, with other disciplines and with third party contractors
- Support the Project Engineering Manager/Project Engineer in resolutions of multi-discipline issues
- Coordinate change control and technical query process within the discipline
- Manage discipline resources (including those in GID) together with the Project Engineering Manager
- Ensuring the actions relating to safe design and from the implementation of VIPs are addressed in a timely manner
- Progress reporting update of discipline deliverables and updates in progress reports
- Resolution of discipline technical issues
- Identify and report potential project variances
- Identify opportunities for engineering innovation, safety in design and sustainability in design,
- Communicate to project team and document key design decisions that may have a significant safety impact
- Interfacing with procurement and construction
- Identification of software requirements and selection of appropriate design tools
- Identifying training needs of discipline personnel and mentor as appropriate
- Squad checking of deliverables
- Maintaining discipline files
- Delegation of authority within discipline
- Updating lessons learnt in the lessons learnt register

REQUIREMENTS

Industry Specific Experience:
- FEED and detailed engineering experience essential.
- Recent experience in an engineering consultancy in a multidiscipline environment is essential.

Education - Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:
- Full-Time Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
- MME (Ministry of Municipality and Environment) engineering accreditation is a mandatory requirement. Candidates not holding this accreditation must be willing to achieve this within the probationary period.
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or undertaking the same will be an advantage.
