Overview:

We are seeking an experienced senior technical safety engineer to join a leading international engineering team in Qatar. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of technical safety activities across major oil and gas projects, working closely with multi-disciplinary teams and guiding junior engineers. The position requires a balance of leadership, technical expertise, and hands-on problem solving within a fast-paced project environment.


Responsibilities:

  • Act as the senior point of contact for technical safety on assigned projects.
  • Lead and supervise engineers and designers in technical safety design and execution.
  • Prepare and review safety-related deliverables including FEED concepts, design basis documents, philosophies, specifications, calculations, drawings, and reports.
  • Review and approve procurement documents, technical evaluations, vendor submissions, and recommendations.
  • Coordinate with project management teams, vendors, subcontractors, and partners.
  • Participate in safety studies and ensure compliance with international codes and standards.
  • Monitor scope changes and provide input on schedule, cost, and technical impacts.
  • Contribute to the development of technical databases and capture lessons learned.
  • Support the professional growth of junior engineers through guidance and feedback.
  • Ensure all work meets health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.

  • Requirements:

  • Bacheloru2019s degree in chemical engineering or equivalent from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in technical safety or loss prevention design within the oil and gas sector.
  • Strong knowledge of industry practices, engineering tools, codes, and international standards.
  • Experience with upstream and downstream oil and gas or petrochemical projects.
  • EPC or consultancy background in a technical capacity is highly desirable.
  • Site construction and commissioning experience is an advantage.
