JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE

Employment: Full Time

Shift Engineer is a crucial role in a wastewater treatment project responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of the plant during their assigned shift

• Monitor plant operations: Monitoring the operations of the wastewater treatment plant during their shift. They will be expected to oversee the proper functioning of all plant equipment, pumps, motors, and instruments to ensure optimal performance.
• Troubleshoot problems: Should be able to identify and troubleshoot any equipment or operational issues that arise during their shift. Should have a strong understanding of the plant's systems, including mechanical, electrical, and chemical processes.
• Perform maintenance and repair: Responsible for performing regular maintenance and repairs on the plant's equipment to ensure it remains in good working order. Should be able to identify potential issues and carry out preventative maintenance as needed.
• Ensure compliance: Ensure that the plant operates in compliance with all regulatory requirements and guidelines. Responsible for monitoring and maintaining accurate records of the plant's performance and ensuring that all necessary reports are submitted on time.
• Supervise staff: The Shift Engineer will oversee the work of the plant operators during their shift, ensuring that they are performing their duties effectively and efficiently. Should provide guidance and support to the operators as needed.
• HSE: Responsible for ensuring that all safety protocols are followed during their shift. They should be able to identify potential hazards and take appropriate action to mitigate any risks.
• Work closely with other departments within the organization, including maintenance, engineering, and management, to ensure the smooth operation of the plant.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor/Diploma in Process/Chemical Engineering and/or sufficient extensive field experience and/or trainings
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in wastewater treatment operations as a Engineer
• Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and equipment, including pumps, blowers, clarifiers, and filters
• Understanding of regulatory requirements related to wastewater treatment
• Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical problems
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in rotating shifts and respond to emergencies as needed
• Must be able to wear personal protective equipment, including respirators and safety glasses
