JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE

Employment: Full Time

Aramco energizes the world economy.

Aramco occupies a unique position in the global energy industry. We are the world's largest producer of hydrocarbons (oil and gas), with the lowest upstream carbon intensity of any major producer.

With our significant investment in technology and infrastructure, we strive to maximize the value of the energy we produce for the world along with a commitment to enhance Aramco's value to society.

Headquartered in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and with offices around the world, we combine market discipline with a generations' spanning view of the future, born of our nine decades experience as responsible stewards of the Kingdom's vast hydrocarbon resources. This responsibility has driven us to deliver significant societal and economic benefits to not just the Kingdom, but also to a vast number of communities, economies, and countries that rely on the vital and reliable energy that we supply.

We are one of the most profitable companies in the world, as well as amongst the top five global companies by market capitalization.

Overview

Aramco is seeking an Advanced Materials Scientist to join the Catalyst Center of Excellence (CCoE) at its Research & Development Center (R&DC), which is responsible for designing innovative catalysts to convert oil and natural gas into higher value fuels and chemicals; as well as sustainability catalysts which enable CO2 utilization, low-carbon fuels production, and a hydrogen economy.

The Advanced Materials Scientist's primary role is to advance the development of breakthrough catalytically active materials through robust in-house synthesis and advanced characterization; and to evaluate related/available technologies in the field of advanced materials for catalysis.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assess technical and business opportunities and identify potential areas for research and development, establishing strategy and tactics to achieve technical and business goals.

Planning, coordinating and leading technology development projects and/or catalyst R&D tasks related to the development of advanced catalytic materials for refining, petrochemicals, or sustainability applications. This includes idea generation, conceptualization, general planning of project/task, porous material design, synthesis and characterization; advanced data analysis and interpretation, interacting with project scientists, laboratory technicians as well as management and project gate keepers. Candidate will carry out the following jobs.

Develop advanced catalytic materials from synthesis conception to bench-scale within short timeframes.

Conduct original R&D activities relating to the development of novel porous materials to serve as novel catalytic components, and support the design and formulation of different heterogenous catalysts for a wide range of applications in alignment with the evolving relevant corporate and business strategies.

Engage with multi-disciplinary teams to optimize the features of developed materials based on targeted performance metrics of the catalytic application being addressed, all while capturing intellectual property and engaging in advocacy activities to promote it in appropriate venues.

Organize teams for specific projects and tasks and lead internal and cross-functional project reviews.

Author technical reports and papers and generate patent applications as appropriate.

Utilize state-of-the-art synthesis concepts, including High Throughput Research (HTR) methodologies and combinatorial techniques as appropriate to advance catalytic technologies.

Utilize advanced and routine material/catalyst characterization tools and instruments to gain insights about structure/activity relationships, and feed into superior material design and optimization.
