Job Description

We are seeking a Cathodic Protection Engineer to join the Consulting Services Department (CSD), Materials Engineering Division (MED). CSD, CP SME is responsible for providing expert advice and assistance to Company organizations, outside vendors, manufacturers, and design firms on matters relating to technologies, engineering expertise, support and consultation in the area of cathodic protection specifically and corrosion protection in general.

Incumbent is responsible for undertaking with minimize supervision complex technical projects within his area of engineering discipline that can affect present and future operation and maintenance of Aramco's upstream and downstream facilities throughout Saudi Arabia. Conducts studies, introduces new technology, and develops/maintains Saudi Aramco Engineering Standards and Design Best Practices which impact all areas. Incumbent also performs studies to determine economic feasibilities of various alternatives and undertakes special assignments requiring expert technical experience.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Review and troubleshoot cathodic protection systems.
-Review CP design packages.
-Establish KPIs and monitor the performance of the CP system.
-Lab testing techniques for corrosion control.
-Recognize and provide recommendations to address factors that influence the severity and consequence of corrosion to Saudi Aramco equipment used in project design and routine operations.
-Become involved in new technology and complete a research study with the Corrosion Sciences Unit of the R&D Center.
-Material and site conditions that need to be addressed in the design of a cathodic protection system.
-Field data that is required to complete a comprehensive design of a cathodic protection system and list each Saudi Aramco Cathodic Protection Engineering Standard.
-Design parameters that must be calculated and discuss the significance to the reliability of the design of a cathodic protecting system.
-Review and interpret the field data that is required to complete a comprehensive design of a cathodic protection system and list each Saudi Aramco Cathodic Protection Engineering Standard.
-Selection of CP system & various design parameters for CP based on electrolyte (soil/water) characteristics.
-Saudi Aramco material specifications for cathodic protection material and identify other industry sources for material specification.
-Review and approve standard and non-standard solutions to problems dealing with the design and application of cathodic protection.
-Analyze cost benefits utilizing cathodic protection methods over other types of engineering material.
-Troubleshoot difficult operational issues. Author technical paper for international conference and begin involvement in new technologies.
-Apply knowledge of industry codes and standards pertaining to cathodic protection design and maintenance for design reviews and consultations for Projects and Operations.
-Distinguish between various codes when dealing with materials specific services or applications
-Review project designs and operational situations and determine compliance with Saudi Aramco cathodic protection standards and material specifications.
-Review and approve project designs and operational issues and determine compliance.
-Review and recommend changes to Saudi Aramco cathodic protection standards towards development and upgradation of the standard.
-Actively participate in the review of Saudi Aramco Mandatory standards and practices.
-Lead the review and/or development of a Saudi Aramco Best Practice.
-Complete independent design for cathodic protection of any in-plant structure. Discuss the design procedure for determining the feasibility effectiveness for applying CP for existing tank bottoms using the earth potential rise method and procedure.
-Conduct comprehensive reviews of CP designs for in-plant facilities and provide consultations to Projects and Operations.

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Requirements
- B.S. in engineering. M.S. or other advanced professional engineering degree is highly desirable. Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or registration is highly desirable.
-A NACE certified Cathodic Protection Specialist Certification that is more than 5 years old.
-At least Ten (10) years of professional experience, including years as an engineer in responsible charge of technical work in his field of specialty. Recognized by Engineering Services as an expert in his field.
-Must have excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills and be willing to transfer implicit knowledge to specialists and engineers in his field.
