Job purpose
We are looking for a qualified QS Civil Engineer with proven experience in quantity surveying within the construction industry. The role requires strong technical expertise in analyzing project documents, preparing accurate BOQs, coordinating with project teams, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and methodologies.
Key accountability areas
- Project analysis: Review tender documents, drawings, specifications, and BOQs to understand project scope and requirements.
- Quantity surveying: Prepare detailed quantity take-offs for civil works, materials, and trades in accordance with project scope.
- Collaboration: Work closely with tendering, procurement, and engineering teams to ensure accuracy and completeness of project quantities.
- Risk assessment: Identify potential risks, gaps, and uncertainties in project documentation and propose mitigation strategies.
- Documentation and reporting: Prepare reports, cost breakdowns, assumptions, and methodologies used in quantity surveying.
- Presentation: Present calculations, comparisons, and recommendations to the Tendering Engineer/Manager for review and approval.
- Compliance: Ensure all work adheres to regulatory standards, methods of measurement, codes, and industry best practices.
- Continuous improvement: Stay updated with new technologies, market trends, and cost-efficient methodologies to enhance surveying accuracy and support value engineering initiatives.
Qualifications and experience
- Minimum 5 years of proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of civil works, construction methodologies, and techniques.
- Proficiency in quantity surveying software and MS Office tools.
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Effective communication, coordination, and presentation abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and deliver under tight schedules.

- Delivery: Perform the planned activities to meet the operational and development targets as per delivery schedules. Utilize resources effectively to achieve objectives within efficient cost and time. Provide a periodic report formatted by detailing the deviation and execution of planned tasks.
- Problem-solving: Solve any related problems that arise and escalate any complex operational issues.
- Quality: Ensure quality requirements to develop effective quality control and processes including specifications for products or processes or related activities.
- Business process improvements: Coordinate well-defined written systems, policies, procedures, and seek automation opportunities as much as possible.
- Compliance: Comply with related policy and procedures and work instructions.
- Health, safety, and environment: Ensure compliance of relevant safety, quality, and environmental management procedures and controls within defined area of work activity to guarantee safety, legislative compliance, and delivery of high-quality products/services.
