Job Description
- A data warehouse and modeling expert plays a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining data warehouses and ensuring efficient data modeling for optimal reporting.
Requirements:
Personal Skills- Data warehouse development: Designing and implementing data storage solutions that integrate data from multiple sources. This often involves ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to move data from source systems into the data warehouse.
- Data modeling: Creating logical and physical data models that define how data is organized within the data warehouse. They develop both star and snowflake schemas depending on business needs, ensuring models are optimized for querying and reporting.
- Performance optimization: Ensuring that data retrieval is efficient and meets the performance requirements of the business by optimizing query execution, indexing, and partitioning strategies.
- Collaboration: Working closely with data analysts, data scientists, and business intelligence teams to understand reporting needs and translate them into technical specifications.
- Data quality and governance: Maintaining the quality, consistency, and accuracy of data stored in the warehouse by implementing data governance best practices.
- Tools and technologies: Expertise in data warehousing tools like Amazon Redshift, Snowflake, Microsoft SQL Server, and ETL tools like Informatica or Talend. Proficiency in SQL, and sometimes Python or Java, for handling data.
Technical Skills
- Proficient in SQL and data modeling techniques.
- Experience with ETL processes and data integration.
- Strong knowledge of database management systems.
- Knowledge of big data frameworks (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) is a plus.
- These engineers ensure that large volumes of data are processed efficiently for business intelligence and analytics purposes.
