Job Description

We are seeking an Electric System Operator to join our Southern Area & Regional Power Operations Department. SA&RPOD main responsibilities are to deliver electrical energy to customers in the safest, most reliable and economical manner through a competent workforce committed to excellence and customer satisfaction . The primary role is to Supervises and directs the day-to-day operation activities of the unit. This includes the operation and inspection of substations, transmission and distribution systems. Responsible for attending to all trouble calls received from industrial and residential customers, dispatching ESO's to repair or call-out other crews as required to restore power as quick as possible.

Responsibilities
- As the successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:
- Perform as shift work director for Divisional Electric System Operation activities, schedules jobs and provides liaison with ARAMCO Central Dispatch to coordinate the work. Dispatches Operators to sites on his own initiative after analysis of phoned data or at ARAMCO Central Dispatcher's request.
- Monitor operation of all substations and circuits in the Division's area of responsibility. Maintains clearance, hold tag and work permit logs; switching programs, points of isolation, mimic board to show total system configuration and provides system. operational guidance in his area. Ensures that logs and regular reports are maintained on dispatch activities.
- Develop detailed switching instructions and procedures for scheduled outages, emergencies and control of system disturbances and is responsible for overall impact on the system. Orders system paralleling and breaking of parallel. Issues Hot Work Permits and Cold Work Permits.
- Issue clearances and work permits, using established procedures, to authorized personnel. Ensures that work permit receivers are aware of the limits of the clearances and work permits and adhere to all applicable safety requirements.
- Provide clearances for additions and deletions of load to the distribution system.
- During emergencies, directs efforts to isolate the cause of trouble and returns the system to normal operations. Directs switchmen, work crews, and efforts for repairs to facilities for restoration of power.
- Consult with Dispatchers for outages and coordinates clearances and work permits for transmission lines where the ARAMCO termination is the clearance point.
- Provide kilowatt hour meter readings for confirmation of electrical consumption and verification of invoices from SEC.
- Coordinate line wash and substation wash schedules with other operating scheduling and requirements.
- Participate in training of personnel and conducts safety meetings. Trains personnel from other units who are candidates for switching duties under the direction of the Supervising Electric System Operator. Trains candidates prior to Authorization to Use Approved Potential Testers as required in PDI 10.1.
- Ensure system drawings and/or mimic boards are kept current and accurate.
- Monitor for safe work practices on the job sites.
- Make decision to perform line patrol after system disturbances and prior to re-energization based on information from Electric System Operators in the field and local knowledge of lines/cables/equipment.
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as directed by the Supervisor

REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience Requirements

- ITC: English, ERW; Math, MI; Valid Saudi Arabian Government driver's license. CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) certified.
- Comprehensive knowledge of safe operation, capability, and system impact on electrical transmission and distribution equipment under all working, weather, and physical conditions. Fully capable of reading, interpreting, and modifying power transmission, distribution and substation schematic drawings.
- Demonstrated leadership talents, ability to handle stress situations, and highly motivated to train subordinates.
- A proven determination to enforce safe work habits.
- You must have a minimum of 11 years' experience in power system construction, commissioning, maintenance and operation with emphasis on the operation of transmission and distribution systems and substation power apparatus.
- You should possess comprehensive knowledge of power system installations in an assigned area and pertinent portions of the Power Distribution Instructions.
- Competent knowledge of applicable Saudi Arabian and U.S. electrical codes.
- Meets all the requirements of Senior Electric System Operator, Electric System Operation I, Electric System Operator II and Maintenance Electrician II.
- Fluent command of the English language, both oral and written.

PREFERRED

- Fully capable to read, interpret, and modify power transmission, distribution and substation schematic drawings.
- Demonstrated leadership talents, ability to handle stress situations, and highly motivated to train subordinates.
- A thorough knowledge of electrical safety procedures and requirements with a confirmed and dedicated attitude towards safety and a proven determination to enforce safe work habits.
- Comprehensive knowledge of safe operation, capability, and system impact on electrical transmission and distribution equipment under all working, weather, and physical conditions.
