Overview

Aramco is seeking an Electrochemistry & Energy Storage Expert to join the Carbon Management Division of the Research & Development Center (R&DC), which is responsible for the development and deployment of cost-effective CO2 capture and conversion technologies.

The Electrochemistry & Energy Storage Expert's primary role is to process electro and photochemistry and energy storage technologies, such as flow batteries, and be responsible for designing, fabricating and testing electrochemical conversion of CO2 and energy storage systems.

Key Responsibilities

Perform advanced diagnostic studies to probe key phenomena and reactions occurring, particularly the use of electron microscopic and synchrotron-related spectroscopic techniques. Other techniques may include x-ray diffraction, scanning and transmission electron microscopy, thermogravimetric and calorimetric analysis, visible-UV, infrared and Raman spectroscopy.

Perform complex data analysis and interpret experimental results.

Prepare manuscripts and reports and business case.

Publish research findings in high-impact peer reviewed technical journals and conferences; and stay current on recent research in the field by reading published literature.

Make presentations at scientific meetings and seminars.

Develop special long-term research projects as keeping the balance between research and focused development for problem solving.

Approache the operational problems with a broad perspective ensuring that relevant R&D as a capital investment, meet specific value targets.

Provide leadership in research and development efforts. Determines areas of research based on advanced technologies and changing expectations of key stakeholders.

Acts as a professional mentor to less-senior specialists.

Conduct technical presentations and writes papers for peer-reviewed journals.

Evaluate major long-term trends in the area of expertise and advises management on application of new technologies.

Serves as a major conduit of technology transfer.

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Requirements

PhD degree in Materials Science, Electro-chemistry or Chemical Engineering with at least seven years ' industry experience; or a Master's degree with ten years' industry experience and recognized throughout the industry as a leading expert in energy storage.

Good understanding of electrochemistry, process modeling, fluid flow and heat transfer principles.

Ability to use data-driven methods for advancing the understanding of electrochemical system performance for energy storage systems to improve round-trip efficiency and core scientific interactions that occur in energy storage systems as power and energy demands increase.

Expertise in synthesizing inorganic electrode materials and ceramic solid electrolytes for rechargeable energy storage systems.

Expertise in use of electrochemical techniques, such as: cell cycling tests, cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and spectro-electrochemistry to investigate kinetic and thermodynamic properties of battery materials, phase transformations, and the interfacial phenomena occur between the electrode and electrolyte.

Focus on experimentally driven data analysis for the independent science-based assessment of high - energy and high-power cell designs. This will include hands on experimentation, the development of testing plans, test procedures, test set-up, refined data analysis, and diagnostics.

Experience working in gloveboxes and in performing electrochemical, interfacial or materials characterizations is highly desired.

Able to perform chemical characterization or synthesis and combinatorial analysis .

Ability to apply first principles for problem solving and design solutions.
