JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE

Employment: Full Time

Aramco energizes the world economy.

Aramco occupies a unique position in the global energy industry. We are the world's largest producer of hydrocarbons (oil and gas), with the lowest upstream carbon intensity of any major producer.

With our significant investment in technology and infrastructure, we strive to maximize the value of the energy we produce for the world along with a commitment to enhance Aramco's value to society.

Headquartered in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and with offices around the world, we combine market discipline with a generations' spanning view of the future, born of our nine decades experience as responsible stewards of the Kingdom's vast hydrocarbon resources. This responsibility has driven us to deliver significant societal and economic benefits to not just the Kingdom, but also to a vast number of communities, economies, and countries that rely on the vital and reliable energy that we supply.

We are one of the most profitable companies in the world, as well as amongst the top five global companies by market capitalization.

Overview

We are Seeking Geomechanics specialist with expertise in unconventional plays to join the Eastern Unconventional Characterization Division (EUCD) within the Unconventional Resources Exploration & Characterization Department (URE&CD).

Geomechanics specialist primary role is to integrate drilling records, well tests, appropriate subsurface data from regional to field-scale to perform mechanical evaluations, create fit-for-purpose mechanical models (1D, 3D and 4D), predicting wellbore stability, pore pressure and support hydraulic fracture design.
The candidate should demonstrate through previous experience ability of working both independently within multi-disciplinary teams in an operational environment that requires interactive and proactive approach to predicting and solving geomechanics related issues.

The successful candidate will be working on geomechanical issues as a part of a dynamic, multidiscipline team dealing/building with 3D Geomechanics, fractures and pore pressure modeling, well planning, design, placement, borehole stability, completion, stimulation and production.

Responsibilities

Candidate will be required to perform and demonstrate the following:
- Leading and building mechanical earth models from multidisciplinary data/observations to establish 1D models for individual wells to 3D and 4D models on reservoir/field and regional scales.
- Conducting detailed geomechanical studies integrating all available data to optimize borehole planning, placement, completion, stimulation and production designs to minimize instability risks.
- Use/maintain mechanical models to conduct and document reservoir characterization work-flows via generating cross sections from well logs, maps, cores, cross plots, histograms, summary tables, and written reports for different stratigraphic intervals to recommend placement of wells and supplementary processes to enhance fracture design and production. - Evaluate current practices and identify opportunities for innovative improvements using data science applications to predict reservoir quality.
- Demonstrate the ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously by actively participate in the well planning process to optimize landing zone using a variety of geomecanical data. Monitoring and tracking wells, during and post frac jobs.
- Effectively communicate through presentations to technical peers and management teams to enhance in-house knowledge.
- Provide support, recommendations and advise in the area of expertise.
- Mentor and develop young professionals on applying geomechanical principles to support drilling, completion and production.
- Remain abreast of latest industry trends, best practices and technologies in geomechanics.

REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience Requirements

The successful candidate will possess the following characteristics:
- A Bachelor's degree in geosciences or a related engineering as appropriate to the required discipline. An advanced degree is preferred and will reduce prerequisite work experience stated below by one year for a Master's degree and two years for Ph.D.
- 10 years or more of geomechanics industrial experience and active technical roles, with at least 5 years in shale unconventional plays, we will consider candidates with more or less experience, depending on the quality of their experience.
- Experience in building, maintaining and evaluating large and complex geomechanical models utilizing lab-derived rock mechanical parameters and industry software e.g. Petrel, Techlog, Predict, WellCheck, FLAC, Elfen, Dynel, VISAGE, ABAQUS, Openwork's, software.
- Working knowledge in the integration of well placement, hydraulic fracture design, stimulation and production.
- Demonstrate the ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team in an operational environment that requires interactive and proactive approaches to predicting and solving geomechanical related issues which impact borehole stability, geo-steering, stimulation and production tests.
- Peer-reviewed published work in the subject matter will be an added value.
