The Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated and organized individual to join our team as a HSW (Health, Safety, and Wellness) Assistant. In this role, you will support the HSW department in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all employees. Main Responsibilities

• Supporting the FM team with the implementation of Safe Systems of Work across the malls to ensure that contractor and sub-contractor activities are being adequately managed, including risk assessments, method statements and safety work permits.
• Ensuring that implementation and application of the company’s policies, processes and procedures are subject to regular monitoring and review to verify compliance and that stated policy objectives are being achieved.
• Providing advice and support to FM team and client regarding the identification of significant hazards existing within Malls and arising from the delivery of facilities management hard and soft services, including subcontractor activities.
• Providing advice and support regarding the risk assessment of all hazards identified and in determining appropriate risk reduction and control measures.
• Assisting FM team in ensuring that adequate fire management, fire/emergency evacuation procedures and arrangements and suitable first aid facilities are in place at all times in Malls.
• Assisting in the development, implementation, monitoring and review of yearly quality, health, safety and environmental plans and associated objectives and targets.
• Monitor and review quality, health, safety and environmental (QHSE) performance indicators and trends and provide regular reports and updates to the Account manager.
• Liaising with the client’s HSE Advisor on QHSE procedures, project safety matters and significant incidents
• Ensuring that internal management system compliance audits and inspections are carried out on a regular and programmed basis across all areas of the company’s operations.
• Assisting with the assessment and review of all quality, health, safety and environment-related responses and associated document submittals by subcontractors relating to the vetting, pre-qualification and approval of suppliers.
• Ensuring that a record of all reported accidents, incidents and dangerous occurrences is maintained and supporting incident investigations.
• Ensuring that adequate investigation and cause analysis is carried out for all reported accidents, incidents and dangerous occurrences and make recommendations for corrective or preventive action to avoid future recurrences.
• Assisting with the formulation and delivery of training sessions, toolbox talks, workshops and briefings on relevant quality, health, safety and environmental topics.
• Assisting with the delivery of induction training for all newly recruited staff members.
• Highlight any risks that may damage Macro’s reputation or financial standing and suggest mitigating actions.

Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have:

• H&S experience in the Middle East, experience working on Shopping Malls / retail is a great advantage.
• NEBOSH Diploma
• Knowledge of ISO45001.
• Good organization, prioritisation and planning skills.
• Good record management skills.
• Ability to work in a team and alone as the activity requires.
• Experience working in Facilities Management
• Practical experience in implementation of SSoW (PTW/Risk Assessment etc.)
• Fluent English Speaker and writer.
• H&S auditing experience and knowledge of ISO9001/14001
• Experience supporting emergency response and fire safety plans.
• Experience working in KSA and knowledge on KSA H&S laws.
• Ability to speak multiple languages to effectively communicate with local contractor workers (e.g. Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, Malayalam, Tamil, Bengali and Filipino) – in addition to English.
