Overview

We are seeking a Hydrogeologist to join Geological Operations Department.
Geological Operations Department provides efficient operational support and specialized Geological solutions for Exploration and Development programs through a skilled and qualified workforce applying appropriate technologies, innovation and excellence in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
Saudi Aramco is embarking on a program to develop its world-class resources and is seeking a professional Hydrogeologist with a broad and deep of knowledge, skill and experience in understanding hydrogeological systems, groundwater resources assessment, groundwater conceptualization, monitoring network design and management and hydrochemical characterization of aquifers background to work in order to support water demand by Saudi Aramco Operations, Facilities and Communities. Groundwater Division supports these proponents with technical expertise to design and drill successful water wells.
Hydrogeologist demand: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and desk based hydrogeological assessments. Data collection, collation and analysis. Efficient computer skills to query and utilize databases and maintain organized data management. Identifying appropriate locations for new production wells. Designing water well completions and supervise the drilling process in the field Designing and conducting pumping and aquifer tests in the field, and analyzing the data in the office. Providing advice on borehole maintenance and optimizing well yield. Assessing water quality issues in production wells. Ability to conduct detailed hydrogeological investigations, draw conclusions and make recommendations. Organization of field work, managing field crews and contractors. Able to effectively communicate verbally, technically and in written form. Presenting projects/studies outcome to senior management at meetings in a concise and effective manner. Ability and willingness to mentor co-workers in applying hydrogeological principles to conduct hydrogeological studies and investigations. Knowledge of current industry trends, practices and technologies in hydrogeology.

Key Responsibilities

You will be required to perform the following:
- Desk based hydrogeological assessments. Data collection, collation and analysis
- Utilize databases using SQL, and organize, maintain and manage data
- Identify appropriate locations for new production wells
- Design water well completions and supervise the drilling process in the field
- Design and conducting pumping and aquifer tests in the field, and analyzing the data in the office
- Provide advice on borehole maintenance and optimizing well yield
- Assess water quality issues in water production wells
- Conduct detailed hydrogeological investigations, draw conclusions and make recommendations
- Organize of field work, manage field crews and contractors
- Regularly inspect and calibrate all field equipment
- Effectively communicate verbally, technically and in written form
- Present projects/studies outcome to senior management at meetings in a concise and effective manner
- Mentor co-workers in applying hydrogeological principles to conduct hydrogeological studies and investigations
- Collaboration with industry leaders and academicians on current industry trends, practices and technologies in hydrogeology and groundwater issues

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Requirements

As the successful candidate you will
- Hold a minimum of Bachelor Degree in Geology or Geophysics. An advanced degree in Hydrogeology is preferred
- Ten years of experience in understanding hydrogeological systems, groundwater assessment and management, protection, monitoring, aquifer characterization, design and monitor water wells drilling and completions, aquifer testing and analysis
- Proven track record in relevant discipline as evidenced by previous work such as publications in the peer-reviewed scientific literature/conferences, etc.
- Familiar with geophysics and hydrogeochemistry, groundwater quality investigations and aquifer protection, groundwater modelling techniques with knowledge of the MODFLOW GUIs like Groundwater Vistas and Visual MODFLOW
- Knowledge of Databases, GIS, mapping and gridding software is an advantage
- Imaginative programming skills - MATLAB, R, VBA is also looked-for
- Excellent communication skills
- Fluent in written and spoken English
