Overview

Southern Area Oil Operations - Technical Support Department, Southern Area Laboratories Division is providing Lab support to the Lube Conditioning Monitoring Program (LCM) at the corporate level. The chemist is expected to lead and oversee a variety of Lube Oil testing and inspection to ensure that Labe condition meets Saudi Aramco Lubricant standards.

Key Responsibilities

This role demands the inspection and testing activities of lube oil and grease samples as per defined test methods and to ensure that products meet all standard specified parameters

Provide day-to-day technical support to operations and maintenance to troubleshoot rotating equipment related issues

Develop, modify, verification and validation of test methods

Ensure effective implementation of ISO/IEC 17025 system

Ensure safe handling of all chemicals, raw materials and products and proper use of PPE during testing and chemical handling as defined procedures and test methods

Ensure reporting of test results as per the precision and bias as detailed in ASTM test methods

Ensure all quality checks, testing, validation and cross verifications on products at all stages of the process as per defined guidelines, procedures and work instructions

Ensure timely and organized upkeep of all testing and QC records & data

Calibrate the Laboratory instruments / Coordinate the Preventive Maintenance activities based on instruments Calibration / PM schedule set up on LIMS

Carry out periodic stock counting of all laboratory chemicals and to ensure testing activities are not delayed due to unavailability of chemicals, glassware & consumables

Ensure proper upkeep of all current test methods with periodic review to update current testing practices as per changes in test methods

Strict adherence towards HSE policies, rules, procedures and work instructions to contribute effectively towards achieving over all company target of zero incidents

Ensure all round robin samples are tested as per the requirements and results achieve the target of set standards

Participate in scientific activities and technical writing at company and international level

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Requirements

The successful candidate should hold a Bachelor's degree in chemistry.

Minimum of 10 years' experience in the Oil & Gas industry operating laboratory services in the field of Lube analysis

The ability to propose and deploy reliability improvement technologies/solutions and innovative ideas

Knowledge of international standards such as APHA, ASTM, API, NACE and etc

Preferred to have membership with internationally recognized technical societies

Comprehensive knowledge and practical experience in rotating equipment lubricant oil and international specification. The ability conducts, assessments, studies, investigations, analysis, and optimization, troubleshooting, producing detailed reports and developing sound technical evaluations
