Responsibilities:
- Provide technical direction to all teams. Contribute to and lead the definition, evolution and adherence to platform and product architecture in line with business goals.
- Define and own architectural best practice design for software solutions required as both extensions to existing Rant & Rave products and new disruptive innovations alike.
- Lead and manage software architects. Mentor wider team members on architectural best practice & patterns, development techniques, principles and processes.
- Translate business needs into system solutions making maximum use of available tools while ensuring longer term supportability of the architecture.
- Hands on approach. Lead the development and maintenance of scalable and robust enterprise (JEE) applications.
- Evaluate possible solutions and designs to establish best approach in terms of customer outcome, architecture and cost. Including prototyping, technical spikes and proofs of concept.
- Research, recommend and implement tools as needed with the goal of continually increasing our
development productivity.
- Proactively bringing issues and problems to the attention of the team; generating, proposing and implementing innovative solutions to solve them.
- Be an advocate of automation, Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery and use experiences to support the teams in these areas.
- Maintain exceptionally high standards of design and code quality at all times, including but not limited to adherence to architectural, security and scalability standards and principles applied at Rant & Rave.
- Updates job knowledge by researching new internet/intranet technologies and software products; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
