Job description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated maintenance mechanic, preferably with prior experience in foundry operations to join our industrial manufacturing team. This position is responsible for the installation, repair, and preventative maintenance of equipment and systems used throughout the foundry and machine shop. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial maintenance, particularly in melting, casting, and material handling systems, as well as a solid understanding of machining equipment, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Key responsibilities:

Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace mechanical components such as motors, reducers, drive chains, hydraulics, pneumatics, furnaces, conveyors, and casting equipment.

Plan and implement a preventative maintenance program for key systems including melting furnaces, mold handling systems, air tools, hydraulics, and cooling systems to ensure maximum uptime and reliability.

Perform routine, emergency, and scheduled maintenance tasks in a safe and efficient manner.

Assist in the installation and alignment of new equipment including conveyors, rotary tables, shakeouts, and other foundry machinery.

Conduct safety and quality checks on mechanical systems and take corrective action as needed.

Evaluate equipment malfunctions quickly and accurately to minimize production downtime.

Modify, adjust, or fabricate components to improve equipment performance, reliability, and safety.

Communicate clearly with production and maintenance teams regarding repair status, required parts, and estimated completion timelines.

Assemble, install, and maintain mechanical systems used in the melting and casting process.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required.

3+ years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in a heavy manufacturing environment.

Demonstrated mechanical skills in repairing and analyzing production equipment.

Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and equipment manuals.

Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly.

Must be capable of performing physically demanding tasks, including lifting, climbing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and standing for long periods.

Dependable, self-motivated, and safety-conscious.

Skills:

5+ years of industrial maintenance experience or journeyman-level mechanical expertise.

Experience working with furnace systems, cooling towers, conveyor systems, pneumatic tools, and casting equipment.

Knowledge of pumps (diaphragm, centrifugal), gearboxes, drive systems (belt, chain, shaft), bearings, couplings, and fasteners.

Familiarity with air compressor systems, including filters, regulators, dryers, and lubricators.

Basic understanding of process controls, transmitters, and safety interlock systems.
