JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE

Employment: Full Time

Aramco energizes the world economy.

Aramco occupies a unique position in the global energy industry. We are the world's largest producer of hydrocarbons (oil and gas), with the lowest upstream carbon intensity of any major producer.

With our significant investment in technology and infrastructure, we strive to maximize the value of the energy we produce for the world along with a commitment to enhance Aramco's value to society.

Headquartered in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and with offices around the world, we combine market discipline with a generations' spanning view of the future, born of our nine decades experience as responsible stewards of the Kingdom's vast hydrocarbon resources. This responsibility has driven us to deliver significant societal and economic benefits to not just the Kingdom, but also to a vast number of communities, economies, and countries that rely on the vital and reliable energy that we supply.

We are one of the most profitable companies in the world, as well as amongst the top five global companies by market capitalization.
Overview

Candidates must be able to initiate and lead numerical geology projects including software development to resolve long-term and intermediate strategic issues as well as operational ones related to the prediction of reservoir architecture and quality. Research topics may include analysis and calibration of sedimentary processes, quantitative sequence stratigraphy, or the process-based integration of a wide range of geological and analytical data sets.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate must be able to work with different types of sedimentary data and have a strong qualitative and quantitative understanding of carbonate and clastic depositional systems. This understanding must be exhibited in the applicability of sedimentary prediction, primarily but not limited to conventional reservoirs for O&G exploration and/or CO2 storage. Candidates must have excellent interpretation, report writing, and oral communications skills and be able to work collaboratively and constructively with a wide range of multidisciplinary researchers, developers and operational groups within exploration and production. They will be expected to help train younger professionals and technicians
Candidates must have the following:
Ability to quantitively analyze sedimentary processes, e.g. in a sequence stratigraphic framework
Extensive experience in integrating sedimentary processes at outcrop/well to sedimentary basin scale
A working knowledge of the numerical modeling approaches, e.g. diffusion or Navier-Stokes-based
4A proven record of coding, e.g. in Matlab, Python or Java

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Requirements

Hold an advanced degree in geology or geological engineering; a PhD degree is highly preferred
A minimum of ten years' of experience in academia or the oil industry related to the application of numerical geology
Excellence in Research and/or Development will be evidenced by the candidate's publications, invited presentations, code/software development or patents, professional awards and honors, and professional society recognition
Experience in currently available process-based modeling code or software (commercial, public license) is an advantage
