Overview

Saudi Aramco is seeking for a Senior Scientist to join their Exploration and Petroleum Engineering Advanced Research Center (EXPEC ARC). We are looking for professionals to conduct upstream research in the Productivity Enhancement Focus Area within the Production Technology Team. The position offers the opportunity to contribute in leading edge technology development in order to increase recovery, improve operational efficiency and reduce cost.

Successful candidate should be able to formulate new ideas and carry out studies to solve oilfield challenges in fracturing and acid stimulations, formation damage mitigation, scale and corrosion prevention, and water and sand control. The candidate will also interact with field operation personnel and service providers to jointly define the problems and solution strategies , designing innovative solutions, managing product development collaborations, field testing new products and supporting technology commercialization.

Key Responsibilities

- Engage with multi-disciplinary teams to identify well productivity enhancement challenges and provide solutions to fill the technology gaps. Initiate technology development proposals
- Design, develop and formulate new fluids for enhancing the well productivity
- The candidate is expected to perform experiments in the lab along with fellow scientists and technicians
- Perform business case analysis for the need to develop new products
- Develop and trial test new technologies in the field. Implement full-scale deployment of high-impact technologies
- Write and publish technical papers
- Generate new IP for Saudi Aramco
- Prepare and present technical talks to highly technical audience

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Requirements

- Hold a PhD degree either in chemical engineering, petroleum engineering, or related fields. Studies and experience in chemical sciences including chemical synthesis, organic chemistry, and/or materials science would be a plus
- Have a minimum of 10 years related experience with demonstrated skills design and R&D of well productivity enhancement including stimulation/fracturing and stimulation tools development or scale mitigation/water treatment
- Have an in-depth theoretical and hands-on knowledge of productivity enhancement performance evaluation techniques including rheology formation damage and scale mitigation.
- The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge in chemical laboratory instruments, testing methods and procedures, and the ability to design new experiment protocols. The candidate should also have demonstrated ability to conduct experiments hands-on.
- The candidate should be an independent thinker to apply knowledge gained from industry and academia to generate practical solutions in upstream oil and gas production
- The candidate should be an effective communicator to deliver his/her ideas to the R&D team, the collaborators, and proponents; a good listener and learner to rapidly understand the challenges faced by the production and reservoir engineers
- Have history of high impact technical publications and patents
