Overview

We are seeking PETE Engrg Sys Specialist to join the Drilling Technology Division of EXPEC Advanced Research Center in the area of Cementing & wellbore isolation. The candidate will be expected to take a Sr. scientist role in defining cementing technology programs for the company. The applicant is expected to provide top industry expert level technical advice and guidance in chiefly, but not limited to advanced or state-of-art technologies for Cementing and Wellbore Isolation. Additional expertise related to geo-mechanics, drilling fluids, cementing, and advanced well completion are desirable but not essential. Conduct seminars, prepare manuals, and train and develop young engineers in the area of expertise. Originate novel ideas to address stakeholder challenges leading to the development of intellectual property.

Propose improvements to current technologies in portfolio, conduct field trials, analyze results and recommend new or changed procedures and / or facilities required. Conduct economic evaluation of new and existing products to understand cost basis and value creation for projects under supervision. The applicant is also expected to act as a task force leader to solve major problems in the area of expertise. Represent Saudi Aramco in dealing with manufacturers, vendors, and outside consultants. Prepare technical papers for international professional societies and technical groups, and represent Saudi Aramco on industry committees or specialized groups as appropriate. Provide expert training and teach technical in-house courses and workshops/forums.

Key Responsibilities

You will be required to perform the following:

Initiate & lead R&D projects directed toward enhancing wellbore isolation fluids and practices

Provide expert advice and assistance on operating problems relating to area of expertise

Specify design criteria and relevant operating parameters for development of Bl's and/or new projects within this area of expertise

Participate in project technical reviews and reviews proposals for new or changed operating procedures on this area of expertise to ensure efficient and economic operations

Conduct economic studies on cost analysis as appropriate to resolve alternative causes of action relative to this area of expertise

Act as Task Force Leader as assigned to solve special problems in area of expertise.

Originate ideas for improvements, develops a basis for required field testing and Management review, analyses results and recommends new or changed procedures and/or facilities

Recommend, designs and oversees suitable outside investigations to resolve problems which exceed current engineering knowledge in this specialty

Represent Aramco in technical contacts with Shareholders and SAG representatives dealing with company procedures or proposed operations relative to area of expertise

Make presentations to Executive Management, to Shareholder Program Review or to various Shareholder Technical Meetings, as appropriate

Represent Aramco in dealings with manufacturers, vendors, outside consultants, etc. within his area of expertise

Conduct seminars, prepare manuals and trains and develop Aramco engineers and operating personnel in area of expertise

Participate in technical societies and technical groups in his area of expertise; represents Aramco on industry committees or specialized groups as appropriate

Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Unit Supervisor or Division Head

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Requirements

The candidate should hold an advanced degree in Petroleum Engineering or related majors with more than 15 years in the oil industry, academia and/or related drilling engineering and rig operational activities. Outstanding technical ability and established successful track record in job performance as reflected by prior job responsibility & achievements, industry recognition, intensive industry training programs, patents (granted or pending) and technical publications, is required. Demonstrated research capability and background on developing technology solutions to current and future drilling challenges, is necessary. Ability to communicate ideas, work with others, and utilize their expertise and technical knowledge to achieve results. Ability to mentor young researchers is required.
