Job Purpose

Overseeing the planning, procurement, and inventory management of materials needed for production or operations. Their main role is to ensure that the right materials are available at the right time, in the right quantity, and at the right cost.

Key Accountability Areas
- Developing and implementing material planning strategies to optimize inventory levels and meet production or operational requirements.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, such as production, procurement, and logistics, to forecast material needs and ensure timely availability.
- Monitoring and analyzing demand patterns, market trends, and supplier performance to identify potential risks and opportunities.
- Negotiating and managing contracts with suppliers to ensure cost-effective procurement of materials.
- Maintaining accurate records of inventory levels, material receipts, and consumption to facilitate inventory control and planning.
- Developing and implementing inventory control procedures, such as cycle counting and stock reconciliation, to minimize discrepancies and improve accuracy.
- Managing and optimizing the use of material planning software systems to support efficient planning and procurement processes.
- Leading or participating in continuous improvement initiatives to streamline material planning processes and enhance operational efficiency.
- Training and mentoring team members to ensure their understanding of material planning principles and processes.
- Collaborating with other departments, such as production scheduling and quality assurance, to ensure seamless coordination and alignment of material planning activities.

- Develop the organizational structure according to the current requirements taking into consideration future and development plans.
- Ensure availability of job descriptions for all job roles and deployment.

Business Process Improvements:
- Develop, coordinate well-defined written systems, policies, procedures, and seek automations opportunities as much as possible.
- Should be conversant and able to navigate through IT solutions especially those relevant to his job and business.
- Promote the automated systems and using them fully, to spread its culture.

Academic Qualification
