The objective of the role is to support the downstream business line as technical leader, expert in the field of oil and gas and chemical process design to strengthen the current knowledge base and to integrate, develop further the specific competencies and skills of the downstream team in general and the process team in specific. Role focus leveraging Refinery area skills in business expansion.

Technical/Functional Responsibilities:

The Chief Process Engineer is an experienced individual contributor role with a significant leadership and managerial dimension. The successful candidate is an experienced technical leader and needs to have strong chemical engineering fundamental knowledge combined with excellent process engineering skills.

The successful candidate must have thorough knowledge of project engineering practices, economic principles, international & local codes, standards, procedures, and specifications.

Also, the successful candidate needs to have people skills and a strong sense of business acumen preferably proven by acting in both a managerial and in-depth technical role across his career.

The role requires strong leadership skills, as responsible for project schedules, budgets and assigning engineers with specific tasks, as well as handling any disputes that might arise among team members.

As a team leader, work with other managerial staff to ensure project completion in an efficient manner whilst ensuring the highest standards of integrity and quality is key. Active development and coaching of the team towards these standards are an integral part of the role.

The candidate needs to be a team driver, complex solution provider, somebody that thinks 'outside the box' and bring innovative and creative ideas to the business in general. Candidate needs to be an energetic with a positive attitude and a strong initiative and a strong sense of project ownership and team leadership.

For this role the candidate shall be:
- Actively focused on achieving the targeted results and ready to intervene in case these results, targets are not to be met in full. Exceeding expectations and a pro-active approach are key to success in the role.
- At all times continue to act result oriented even changing circumstances, tasks, responsibilities and or people. Start with the end (result) in mind and keep driving it throughout the process.
- Client focused, investigate client requests to understand their real needs both internally (company) and externally (client) in order to act and anticipate accordingly in the role. Prioritize service orientation and maximize customer satisfaction.

Primary job responsibilities and expectations
- Works safely in all aspects of the job
- Participates with Business Development on oil & gas and chemical related opportunities
- Supports Business Development
- Prepares inputs for large proposals and or sales material.
- Participates in planning, cost estimating and scheduling for proposal and projects.
- Engages actively with clients and client representatives to early identify value additions to their operations and, or facilities. Participation in site visits to industrial facilities, job or work sites will be part of this engagement.
- Develops solutions to complex problems that require a high degree of innovation and ingenuity
- May have supervisory and administrative responsibility over group of process engineers or serve as process lead on large projects

• Identify project staff needs based on knowledge of individual engineer's skill sets and provide requests to the Discipline manager
• Plan, organize and assign tasks, responsibilities, and manhour budgets to the discipline team, and verify tasks are completed within budgets
• Supervise and guide assigned engineers and coordinate with project Lead Designers for Discipline engineering and design deliverables
• Monitor project team performance and intervene or take corrective actions if so required.
- Lead and participate in the design & reviews of critical process units as a subject matter expert.
- Responsible for the engineering integrity and quality output on design deliverables of the assigned work area and, or team. Reviews and approves critical project specific Process deliverables.
- Strong drive on compliance with design processes and procedures such as management of change across all project design phases.
- Participate, coach and guide the team during design safety reviews.
- Maintain effective lines of communication with business line management as well as project team members and department manager on the assigned work area and, or job responsibilities.
- Take an active role in mentoring and developing engineers in the department by supporting the department manager:

• Develop communication and presentation skills within the team
• Present design solutions to the wider process group
• Present topics at the 'lunch and learns'
• Write technical papers, participate in conferences and/or seminars
• Identify and provide training to staff in specific techniques and proprietary software
• Provides technical guidance to less experienced process engineers
- Support the wider business objective in localizing the workforce by sharing knowledge and experience through coaching, meetings as part of training on the job and more formal in pre-organized workshops and trainings.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications
- Outstanding Presentation skills
- Secondment experience
- Multi-office project execution experience
- Exposed to different technologies and Process software
- Experience in various project phases
- Demonstrated experience in leading areas of large capital projects
- Demonstrated experience in engineering work processes
- Operational working & troubleshooting experience will be added benefit
- Precommisioning/Commissioning experience will be added benefit
- Preferably Registered Professional Engineer or member of professional engineering society
