Scope of Services: Recovery Room
Services: The Recovery Room (RR) is a critical care area, which provides skilled post anesthetic nursing care immediately after operative and invasive procedures. Post-operative patients from main

Operating Room (OR) / post procedure outside main OR (OSMO) patients will be transferred to an appropriate medical or surgical unit or to the Intensive Care Units. The Recovery Room provides nursing care to In-patient Units/ Intensive Care Units (ICU) /Ambulatory Care Units /

Day-Procedure Unit (DPU) and post Caesarian- section (C-section), general anesthesia patients, patient from adult, pediatrics, and neonate older than 28 days old. The unit has five (5) Recovery Room bays and three (3) bays utilized as preoperative holding bays depending on the need of the department.

During an ICU bed crisis, the RR also can admit medical ICU patients (post code), however, there is an agreement with ICUs to send a more ICU stable patient to RR and the post code patient goes to an ICU bed.

RR also provides a procedure room that services specific and invasive procedures where patients may require general anesthesia and/or close monitoring by an anesthesiologist, while undergoing certain procedures which include pediatric oncology or patients with special needs from anesthesia.

Operational Hours:

The unit is provides a 24 hour service to inpatient and outpatient post anesthetic care through regular staffing and additional coverage by on-call.
