JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE

Employment: Full Time

BASIC FUNCTION:

Job Purpose:

To lead the technical management, documentation and failure analysis on Rotating Equipment, and secure and ensure the reliability and availability of all Rotating Equipment operating in the Refinery.

Scope:

Manage a Rotating Equipment team of Engineers, Specialists and Technicians providing technical support to the maintenance and operation of rotating equipment within the Refinery, such as pumps, compressors, conveyors, valves, gear boxes and motors. Ensure that all maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with SATORP’s quality and safety standards, specifications and reliability best practices.

MAIN ACTIVITIES:

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide functional Supervision to Methods Reliability Rotating Equipment personnel and support them in performing their assigned duties.
• Improve rotating equipment reliability and availability through the implementation of Reliability Engineering principles, techniques and tools, such as Risk Based Maintenance (RBM) and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA).
• Coordinate with other Maintenance Divisions and the Operations Department in SATORP to discuss, develop, review and manage rotating equipment maintenance and reliability strategies.
• Contribute to the development of Predictive and Preventative Maintenance plans and procedures for all rotating equipment, and provide technical expertise for rotating equipment maintenance activities, standards and procedures.
• Provide technical assistance and trouble-shooting support for all rotating equipment, and ensure that all maintenance activities and procedures are aligned with reliability requirements.
• Lead and manage the day-to-day activities of the rotating equipment team, establish clear goals and objectives related to the reliable performance of all rotating equipment.
• Work closely with other Maintenance Divisions to determine and predict rotating equipment components’ life using appropriate reliability tools, such as Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Mean time between failures (MTBF) and Mean Time To Failure (MTTF), to ensure extended operating life of rotating equipment.
• Provide technical advice with regards to searching for and preparing new rotating equipment proposals, and review equipment specifications, documents and drawings.
• Develop ten year renovation plans/budgets based on risk management of obsolescent equipment. Approve and supervise the engineering and design of modifications (technical) for all rotating equipment and support systems with an objective to maintain a high level of reliability performance of the equipment.
• Ensure keeping, maintaining and updating a database of all historical data pertaining to rotating equipment failures, and assist in analyzing failure data and preparing reliability test report.
• Define spare part requirements, employing Risk Based Maintenance and FMECA and performing regular audits to ensure working capital is optimized, stock levels are maintained and obsolete equipment are removed.
• Coordinate the training of Rotating Equipment Engineers and Technicians on general knowledge of rotating equipment, performance monitoring technologies and awareness of safe working practices.
• Ensure full compliance with health and safety and environmental policies and regulations at all times.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Superintendent Methods Reliability.

REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED):

Main Competencies and Qualities:

• Knowledge of Rotating Equipment Maintenance.
• Ability to define maintenance strategies using FMECA and RBM methodologies.
• Strong knowledge of compressors, gas / steam turbines, centrifugal pumps.
• Strong knowledge of the maintenance and repair of Refinery rotating equipment.
• Strong knowledge of related health, safety and environmental regulations.
• Capable of handling multiple tasks.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to continuously drive for process improvement.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong command of oral and written English.

Education Background:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience:

• Eight (8) years of experience in Refinery Rotating Equipment Reliability Management, of which at least Four (4) years in a similar position.
