Job description

Reporting to director of sales & marketing, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Establish, maintain, and use library of reference materials, periodicals, texts, and sales leads: stay abreast of market trends and hotel selling techniques.
  • Research the market on a continuing basis to determine where business comes from, what is the influence, who the hotel's clients are, how they normally arrive in the city, etc.
  • Go on sales trips to promote and solicit business for the hotel.
  • Maintain close contacts within the community and in neighboring marketing areas, with airlines, travel agencies, commercial houses, private clubs, professional associates, etc. to procure new business for the hotel.
  • Review internal promotion pieces on a regular basis to ensure that all hotel signs, posters, tent cards, etc. are adequate, up-to-date, visually effective, and consistent with high standards set by management.
  • Organize and promote, in cooperation with the food and beverage department, special projects such as monthly food promotions and other activities to stimulate the food & beverage sales within the community.
  • Coordinate with front office and housekeeping departments in handling room reservations and customers' inquiries, requests, and complaints.
  • Prepare and execute (in conjunction with the public relations department) regular direct mail campaigns that stimulate local interest in the hotel's facilities, announce special events, promote the credit card, etc.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, sales, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a 5-star hotel or the relevant industry.
  • Track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities (Arabic and English fluency preferred).
