Principal Objective: A brief summary of the responsibilities of the position.

• The Senior Civil Engineer shall support the JCPDI Port Engineering Department with all civil elements of the port’s construction and ongoing operation.
• In addition, shall maintain records and monitor as well as support in the coordination of engineering activities within the department.
• Shall be required to comprehend construction drawings and design documents in the field of civil engineering in addition to other project administration roles including report writing, planning and scheduling.
• Organizational Relationship: A brief synopsis of reporting relationships; i.e., reports to, supports section, group, etc.; interfaces with senior management, clients, etc.
• Reports to the Port Engineering Manager or Deputy Port Engineer.

Major Activities Performed: List the major job function(s) of the position.

• Effectively communicate, verbally and written, with third parties including other Port Authority and Royal Commission Departments, the Port Operator, clients/investors for the existing port infrastructure as well as future developments with the port.
• To identify and define project requirements, scope and objectives, and identify any impact on the operation of the port while ensuring that client/investor needs are met as the project evolves.
• Interact with stakeholders and contractors regarding activities related to civil engineering and ensuring that internationally acceptable design and construction standards are followed, as well as health and safety requirements are followed.
• Identify where appropriate, risks and opportunities in relation to engineering elements of the port.
• Work closely with the Port Engineering Department leads in the preparation of reports as well actions plans and budgets for the execution of work within the port.
• Will be responsible for the detailed review, checking of port engineering design documentation.
• Provide project execution oversight on behalf of the Port Authority.
• Preparing estimates and proposals for multi-disciplined engineering projects requiring the effective interaction with other members of the Port Authority and Royal Commission departments.
• Be a key member of the Port Authority in the policing of Health and Safety requirements for operations and personnel within the port.
• Evaluate tenders/bids, both technically and financially, received from third parties for engineering works within the port.

Experience and Qualifications:

• Candidate should have a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum of 3 years of project experience in civil engineering design and project execution.
• A knowledge of Port Plant and Equipment operation and maintenance.
• Technical report and presentation skills.
• Candidate should have excellent communication skills, both spoken and written (English).
• Candidate should have solid organization skills including multi-tasking and time management.
• Strong working knowledge of the following computer software: Microsoft word, excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD.
