JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Planning Engineer to join our dynamic team in the construction industry. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the planning, scheduling, and management of construction projects, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality. As a Senior Planning Engineer, you will work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop and implement effective planning strategies and tools, while also mentoring junior team members and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using appropriate tools and techniques, ensuring alignment with project objectives and stakeholder expectations.
- Collaborate with project managers and other key stakeholders to define project scope, milestones, and deliverables, while identifying potential risks and developing mitigation strategies.
- Analyze project performance data, including progress against schedules, budgets, and resource allocation, to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Prepare and present regular reports on project status, including schedule updates, forecasts, and critical path analysis to stakeholders at all levels.
- Utilize advanced planning software and tools to enhance project visibility and facilitate effective communication among team members.
- Lead the planning phase of projects, including the development of work breakdown structures (WBS) and resource loading to ensure optimal utilization of manpower and materials.
- Monitor project progress and performance against established benchmarks, making necessary adjustments to schedules and plans as required.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior planning engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and professional development within the team.
- Participate in project meetings and workshops, contributing planning expertise to discussions and decision-making processes.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements in planning and scheduling for construction projects.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; a Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, PMI-SP) is preferred.- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction planning and scheduling, with a proven track record of successfully managing complex projects.
- Proficient in planning software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and other scheduling tools; strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated experience in risk management and the ability to proactively identify and address potential project challenges.
- A proactive and results-oriented mindset, with a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation in project planning practices.
- Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
