JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE
Job Description
- Provide expert-level technical support for Routing & Switching infrastructure, including configuration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
- Manage and maintain network systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues, providing root cause analysis and implementing effective solutions.
- Collaborate with network architects and other IT teams to design and implement network upgrades, expansions, and enhancements.
- Monitor network performance, identify potential issues, and take proactive measures to prevent disruptions.
- Document network configurations, changes, and troubleshooting procedures to ensure accurate and up-to-date records.
- Mentor and guide junior network engineers, sharing knowledge and best practices.
- Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support and respond to network emergencies.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in Routing & Switching technologies and recommend improvements to the existing network infrastructure.
- Support the deployment of new network services and solutions, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
Requirements:
Personal Skills- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues quickly and effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in network engineering roles, with a focus on Routing & Switching.
Technical Skills
- Extensive experience with Cisco, Juniper, or similar network equipment.
- Strong understanding of BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, STP.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNP, JNCIP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
- Proven experience in managing and supporting complex network environments.
- Experience with network security practices, including firewalls, VPNs, and access control.
- Knowledge of scripting and automation tools for network management (e.g., Python, Ansible).
- Familiarity with ITIL processes and best practices.
- Proficiency in network troubleshooting tools and techniques (e.g., Wireshark, traceroute, network performance monitoring tools).
- Network monitoring and troubleshooting tools (Wireshark, SolarWinds, etc.)
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
