JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE

In this role, you will be responsible for the efficient and quality handling and/or processing of all cargo, courier and mail within an assigned area of cargo warehouse/airside operations to achieve service delivery and efficiency targets whilst ensuring safety and security compliance.
Job Outline:
- Direct a team through the handling and/or processing of cargo, courier and mail activities in accordance with safety, quality and efficiency standards. Provide safety awareness briefings to assigned team so that work is carried out safely.
- Inspect, verify and count goods at every point of delivery, acceptance, breakdown and build-up to ensure that goods conform to relevant standards and update information in Skychain with shipment details to enable customers to track the status of their shipment.
- Liaise with government authorities such as customs, health or police to ensure the timely movement of all cargo, courier and mail.
- Ensure at all times that the handling of shipments of dangerous goods fully comply with the current edition of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations and that the handling of time and temperature sensitive/pharmaceutical shipments demonstrates compliance to the EU GDP requirements.
- Perform the process of acceptance, delivery, build-up and breakdown, monitoring of ULD/AWB JNG and QRT on airside, with the required connection window.
- Plan the loading of cargo product into ULDs/bulk on the assigned aircraft in accordance with given priorities and the volume and payload available to achieve the optimum utilisation of capacity.
- Advise and validate any deviations from planned cargo uplift requirements so that amendments can be implemented to minimise the impact of deviations on service standards and revenue generation.
- Inspect ULD's and ancillary cargo equipment reporting deficiencies for defect rectification in order to maintain safety standards, prolong equipment life and reduce replacement costs. Check for and monitor cargo irregularities and discrepancies (damage, loss, etc), initiate preventive/corrective actions to minimise costs rising from claims.
- Monitor the offloading/unloading of cargo from/onto arriving/departing flights, checking for irregularities and/or deviations from standard policies and procedures and advising as necessary.
- Monitor the delivery times of cargo from the ramp to the warehouse and subsequent processing to assure quality standards in respect of customer service detailing deviations in order to maintain and enhance product quality.
Requirements:
- 10 Years schooling or equivalent.- 2+ years experience working with Air Cargo, Cargo or in Logistics.
- Knowledge of aircraft handling, ramp handling, cargo terminal handling procedures.
- High level of knowledge and demonstrable competence in Good Distribution Practice (GDP) acquired through training and experience.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Ability to use computer applications with previous knowledge of SkyChain an advantage.
- Ability to successful complete basic cargo and dangerous goods - Cat 8.
