JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE

Employment: Full Time

Manages Administrative and Technical Operations of Laboratory Services including implementation Laboratory Management System across Gulf Coca-Cola Beverages laboratories to ensure adequate services are provided in the field of laboratory testing, research and studies, as needed by GCCB stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Manages the overall operation of Laboratory Services to ensure that the laboratory continuously complies with ISO/IEC 17025 Standard, local regulations and company requirements in carrying out its laboratory activities such as quality testing and calibration.
• Approves release of test reports on regular testing, special studies and troubleshooting analyses conducted by Central Laboratory in order to assure that accuracy and confidentiality of test results are maintained.
• Manages Laboratory Management System implementation (Administrative and Technical) of Central Laboratory by execution and monitoring of implementation of:
- Quality Documentation Program, Records Management Program,
- Quality Control Program,
- Laboratory Equipment Maintenance and Calibration Program,
- Training Program,
- Preventive and Corrective Action Program, Internal Audit Program and Control of Non-conforming Work in order to ensure that the laboratory consistently meet the requirements of international and local standards.

• Manages and monitors Laboratory Services’ operating expenses against allocated budget to ensure that quality services are provided at optimum cost.
• Leads Laboratory personnel on assessment activities conducted by local and international certifying bodies in order to maintain Laboratory’s accreditation.
• Develops and executes training plan of Laboratory personnel for skills improvement and competency enhancement.
• Manages certification process of Laboratory personnel to ensure that all personnel performing test, operating equipment, reviewing and signing test reports are competent and capable of performing such activities.
• Executes monthly business review in order to monitor progress and performance of the Laboratory and its personnel against goal.
• Guides Laboratory Services personnel in conduct of special studies meeting the quality testing requirement in order to provide results that are accurate based on defined procedure.
• Plans Laboratory’s participation in quality testing program from local and international service providers, assesses results and executes actions if needed to ensure that Laboratory and its personnel are proficient in performing quality tests.
• Executes Customer Satisfaction Program in order to ensure compliance with customer requirements as support for our company vision of satisfying our consumer through excellence in our products.
• Leads Laboratory Services personnel in Laboratory Management System audit to assure that the laboratory consistently complies with the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025 standards.
• Leads in the execution of business’ Quality System philosophy in the operation of plant laboratories by creating strategies to drive implementation of Laboratory Management System that are aligned with local regulatory, company and international standards.
• Develops and implements quality testing procedures that are compliant to company and regulatory requirements in order to have standardized procedure/methods.
• Develops, plans and executes Quality Control Programs implementation across GCCB Laboratories by creation of policies and procedures, implementation verification and performance assessment to ensure that all GCCB laboratories comply with the set guideline, follow standard method of testing and meet the frequency as defined by The Coca-Cola Company.
• Manages Proficiency Testing Program implementation in collaboration with GQAS laboratories and Operating Unit to ensure that GCCB laboratories are competent in performing quality tests.
• Performs design and development of program on parameters that are critical to business for material acceptance, product releasing, water and wastewater monitoring and process monitoring.
• Evaluates results and analyses GCCB plants performance and monitors actions implemented by the plant
• Supports plant by providing technical assistance for the closure of identified opportunities in the form of training, parallel testing and concordance studies
• Executes proficiency testing activities as technical support to GCCB laboratories, to aid in identifying strengths and to develop action plans addressing identified opportunities in performing tests
• Sources out alternative third party service providers or standards in the absence of internal standards
• Collaborates with Global Quality Assurance Services Laboratory and Operating Unit for closure of identified non-conformities.
• Develops, plans and executes Unintended Compounds Monitoring to assure compliance with company and regulatory requirement by :

- Collaborates with Internal and External Laboratories on the requirement of all GCCB plants ensuring compliance with GCCB, The Coca Cola Company and statutory testing requirement
- Assesses results , directs immediate actions if needed and monitors implemented actions at frequency set by the company and closure of identified opportunities in collaboration with Operating Unit.

• Develops, plans and executes Trade Sample Monitoring Program by:

- Establishes guidelines that must be accomplished to ensure standardized program implementation.
- Implements and verifies to ensure compliance to established procedure
- Monitors and evaluates results that will serve as a tool in predicting product compliance and will signal the need of carrying out action in order to assure achievement of goals.

• Develops, plans and executes Sensory Program by:

- Guides and directs plants in the implementation process to ensure that all are aligned with the requirements
- Collaborates with the following groups to ensure seamless implementation of the program
- Obtains approval from Operating Unit for each GCCB Plants’ Sensory Implementation Plan and Sensory Facilities
- Coordinates with GQAS for training needs and clarifications; Coordinates resolution of issues encountered during program implementation
- Coordinates with the approved third party provider (Flavor Activ) in procurement of standards and materials needed for sensory trainings and testing requirements
- Leads in the design and execution of technical trainings for competency enhancement of CCBPI’s laboratory personnel
- Documents and defines technical trainings for quality analysts of the plants to ensure that laboratory personnel working in the laboratory are trained and authorized to operate equipment and execute quality testing.
- Collaborates with HR function, Operating Unit, Global Quality and other TCCC group in execution of identified trainings to ensure that trainings related to laboratory operations are provided to personnel working in the laboratory.

• Institutes Central Laboratory Services as laboratory arm of Research and Development initiatives, referee laboratory among GCCB plants and depository arm of laboratory equipment to ensure that continuous laboratory operations are maintained and compliant with the quality testing requirement of the company.
• Manages experimental activities, validation studies and data evaluation that will serve as a guide in creating strategic to achieve business targets
• Handles and manages National CAPEX application of GCCB laboratories’ through conduct of technical evaluations of all laboratory related equipment to assure compliance to local and international standard in the execution of quality tests
• Provides technical assistance to other function by facilitating monitoring and testing needed to evaluate company’s competitive advantage
• Evaluates applicability of alternative method or new technologies in the absence of standard methods by management of method validation and verification in order to ensure that validated methods not only meet quality requirement but also meets environment and safety standards
• Oversees allocation of laboratory equipment of closed plants to other GCCB facilities for maximum utilization of company asset.
• Provides technical assistance to plants by working with other GCCB facilities or external providers in securing support needed to sustain laboratory operations of GCCB in the event of equipment malfunction or breakdown
• Leads and guides Laboratory Chemists, and Microbiologist to carry-out administrative and technical function needed in laboratory operations to ensure accuracy of results are achieved
• Assigns tasks to be handled by Laboratory chemists, and microbiologist with clear objective, procedure, targets and timeline
• Provides technical and administrative support that would aid Laboratory personnel in completing assigned task
• Reviews regularly completion of assigned responsibilities to Laboratory personnel, discusses and develops actions to address challenges encountered in carrying-out tests

Requirements:
Position Requirements:

• Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or any related Chemistry allied course
• Must hold professional license
• At least 5 years’ experience in Laboratory Operations with considerable exposure to Laboratory requirements of Beverage Manufacturing - Carbonated and/or Non-Carbonated Beverage, Powdered Juice and Packaged Water production
• At least 3 years’ experience in operation with relevant exposure on Laboratory Operation, Unit Operations, Research, Decision Making and Business Priorities and Impact
• Excellent organizational and administrative skills
• Experience managing multiple assignments/projects and conflicting priorities with the pressure of short, demanding deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to follow complex, multi-step procedures to complete tasks and can understand instructions with minimal supervision
• Good listening and communication skills to ensure that the information is received and relayed correctly.
• High level of discretion, tact, judgment, and decision-making and must have a solid aptitude for customer service
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
