JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE
As a Civil Engineer you will be responsible to manage the Works on site by contractor , and subcontractors. including but not limited to the following:
• Assist RE in Review contractor's payment applications, certify payments and issue recommendation to the Client for release of payments under the contract .
• Prepare and issue reports to the Client and higher management of Diar Consult as and when necessary.
• Apply the best updated practices related to all roles and responsibilities of the Resident Engineer on site.
• Ensure that you are in regular contact with and familiarize yourself with regard to relevant Municipality codes and regulations and all such requirements that impact construction on site and any other local authorities of relevance to ensure that their regulations, directives and codes are all satisfied thoroughly on site including subsequent legislation that may affect approvals and progress of work.
• Liaise with the Local Authorities and other parties concerned with the project, if required.
• Liaise with Municipality if required to ensure that building permit and other relevant approvals are obtained on time and if required to represent Diar Consult in any meetings concerning procedures of permits, clearances et c.
• Day to day inspection of works on site and record keeping of progress being achieved. To check the conformity and standards of execution with respect to each discipline and verify against the specification and quantities prescribed within the contracts you are involved in.
• To handle and supervise all such technical tests and verify readings and results and keep accurate records thereof.
• Review reports, shop drawings, Material submittals, method statements, and Assist RE in responding to all submittals in timely matter
• To keep records of the Contractors staff attendance, the attendance of his sub contractors as well as monitor and supervise storage facilities on site and contents thereof as well as advising with regard to ordering, purchasing and deliveries of the Contractor for all items included in the contract, specifically any long lead and / or Client supplied item s.
• To attend meetings and issue minutes of meetings if and when required.
• To attend the office in the afternoons (as applicable/needed) to catch-up with design aspects of site and office works as well as preparing any reports, writing correspondence, filing and necessary record keeping.
• To liaise with local authorities concerned with the projects you are working on
• To carry out Quality and ISO assignments as and when required by Diar Consult including attending and verifying audits.
• Follow-up and ensure safety of job sites, works, personnel, properties, etc .
• Assist in Review of all Contractor Claims and requests for Extension of Time for Completion of the Works and make recommendation
• Monitor works to be completed or defects to be rectified during the Defects Liability Period
Requirements:
• Degree in Civil Engineering.• At least 12 years of experience in construction supervision, and 5 years’ experience in UAE.
• Strong experience as a Civil engineer and ADM license as Specialized Engineer
• Knowledge of local laws, codes, and regulations.
• Knowledge of inspection procedures to achieve construction quality control.
• Knowledge of contract administration, time, and cost control.
• Knowledge of construction methods, specifications, and codes.
• Strong leadership skills
• Excellent oral and written communication
• Ability to read and understand drawings and technical diagrams.
• Advanced computer skills.
