JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE

Employment: Full Time

This role’s main objective is to manage the firm’s contractual relationship with its clients. This involves a review of proposed changes to the firm’s terms of business and client’s own terms in accordance with the firm’s policies and liaising with the relevant lawyer and creating and managing a database of client terms.

Duties and Responsibilities will include:

• Reviewing and analysing client’s own terms or changes to the firm’s terms of business, in accordance with agreed parameters.
• Drafting responses to the lawyers to assist them with negotiating with clients.
• Escalating and liaising with the Head of Quality Assurance/Terms of Engagement Review Committee as appropriate.
• Act as a subject matter expert on the firm’s engagement terms procedures and policies.
• Monitoring compliance with the firm’s engagement letter policy.
• Developing and maintaining the firm’s engagement terms database.
• Contribute, as required, to projects aimed at improving compliance knowledge across the firm.
• Acting as the coordinator in respect of client information requests.
• Assisting the compliance/conflicts team as required during periods of absence and upskilling as required to assist.

REQUIREMENTS

• Qualified lawyer or paralegal with contract review experience
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience within a law firm
• Confident when dealing with senior lawyers
• Native English speaker or fluent written legal English
• Strong English drafting skills
• Strong work ethic and sense of ownership and responsibility
• Drives results through teamwork, people, communication and influence
• Comfortable with change, ambiguity, debate, conflict and informed risk taking
• Willingness to make decisions, while ensuring buy in from stakeholders
• Desire for continuous professional development
• Self-motivated
• Organised and systematic
