JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE
Key Responsibilities:
Contract Management:
- Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, subcontracts, and agreements with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Ensure compliance with contract terms, legal requirements, and company policies.
- Identify contractual risks and manage contract variations, extensions, and claims.
- Prepare and submit claims for time extensions, additional costs, or damages, ensuring timely resolution of disputes.
Commercial Management:
- Manage the financial performance of contracts, ensuring profit margins are maintained and improved where possible.
- Lead cost control measures by monitoring project costs, budgets, and financial forecasts.
- Develop and maintain financial reports, including cash flow projections, and assess commercial performance against project objectives.
- Oversee payment applications, invoicing, and ensure timely collection of payments.
Procurement and Subcontractor Management:
- Manage the procurement process, ensuring subcontractors and suppliers are contracted on favorable terms and within budget.
- Negotiate terms with suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring that all parties meet project timelines and quality expectations.
- Oversee and approve subcontractor payments, monitor performance, and manage variations and claims.
Team Leadership and Management:
- Lead and manage a team of Quantity Surveyors (QS), providing guidance, mentoring, and performance management.
- Ensure QS team is effectively monitoring costs, budgets, and valuations throughout the project lifecycle.
- Delegate responsibilities and tasks effectively across the team to meet project goals and deadlines.
- Foster a collaborative environment, encouraging communication and best practices within the QS team and wider project teams.
Risk and Compliance:
- Identify and assess commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements, including health and safety, insurance, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
Client Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Act as a primary point of contact for commercial and contractual matters, resolving issues promptly and efficiently.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in a commercial or contracts management role, preferably in the construction or engineering industry.- Proven experience working with subcontractors, managing contracts, and handling large-scale projects.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and managing a team of Quantity Surveyors.
- Strong understanding of contract law, construction contracts (e.g., NEC, JCT, FIDIC), and dispute resolution mechanisms.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to analyze and manage budgets, forecasts, and project costs.
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor a team.
- Proficiency in contract management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Salary:
AED
34,000 to 38,000
per month inclusive of fixed allowances.
