Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Commis I to join our culinary team in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. As a Commis I, you will play a crucial role in supporting our kitchen operations and contributing to the creation of exceptional dining experiences for our guests.

  • Master basic cooking methods, including ingredient cutting techniques and daily mise en place preparation for assigned stations
  • Prepare food items according to standard recipe cards, maintaining portion control and minimizing waste
  • Adhere to and implement food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP) in all kitchen activities
  • Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment
  • Manage daily stock of raw materials and ingredients for the assigned kitchen area
  • Operate various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of menu items as directed by senior kitchen staff
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations and timely food service
  • Continuously learn and improve culinary skills under the guidance of experienced chefs
  • Contribute to the overall cleanliness and organization of the kitchen

    • Qualifications

  • Degree in hotel management, culinary arts, or equivalent culinary education
  • Strong knowledge of basic cooking methods and kitchen operations
  • Proficiency in ingredient cutting techniques and mise en place preparation
  • Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP)
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items when necessary
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new culinary techniques and recipes
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Basic math skills for recipe conversions and inventory management
  • Ability to read and follow recipes and standard operating procedures
  • Knowledge of international cuisines, particularly those popular in Dubai's diverse culinary scene
  • English language proficiency; knowledge of Arabic is a plus
  • Legal eligibility to work in Dubai, United Arab Emirates

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in the same or similar role
  • Prior experience working with Opera or a related system
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
  • Fluency in English, additional languages are a plus
