Job objectives

Carry out commissioning activities safely, productively, meeting quality requirements in accordance with the instructions given by the foreman / commissioning engineers.

Key responsibilities

Policies, processes & procedures:

Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.

Follow and comply with information security rules and data security measures in order to protect the company information / intellectual properties.

Day-to-day operations:

Check installation of systems and equipment before commissioning to make sure the installation is done properly and safe to work with.

Assist vendors and commissioning engineers during commissioning and related modifications.

Assist and arrange temporaries required for commissioning as per instructions.

Troubleshoot and modify equipment and systems whenever instructed.

Disconnect, modify and remove equipment, hoses, valves, pipes / mechanical equipment / components as applicable.

Work on live equipment in case it is unavoidable, meeting all safety procedures under close supervision.

Prepare equipment and systems for commissioning under the instructions and guidance of commissioning engineers or foremen.

Perform watch keeping and record parameters of the equipment being commissioned / operating.

Use all test equipment and measuring instruments following the instruction from foreman and ensure that all jobs completed are in accordance with all standard procedures and safe working practices.

Perform isolations and energizations understanding the scope as per instruction received from commissioning engineer.

Conduct line walks to ensure the system readiness to carry out commissioning and to ensure safety.

Participate in sea trials and carry out equipment operations under the direction of supervision.

Perform first filling of equipment and systems under the direction of supervision.

Operate equipment/instrument during commissioning till hand over under the guidance and instructions of commissioning engineer.

Perform other job related duties as assigned by the department head.

Comply with relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls and behave in a manner which ensures that actions or omissions do not adversely affect the environment, health, safety and wellbeing of themselves, colleagues, contractors or members of the public.

Participate in any training and safety initiatives implemented by the company.

Comply with all safety directives and work instructions.

Immediately report any incident or potential hazard to their supervisor or safety department.

Technical competencies:

Basic computer knowledge.

Able to use various test equipment and measuring instruments.

Good knowledge in commissioning and pre-commissioning activities.

Should be conversant with applicable safe working practice, PTW procedures, LOTO procedures, quality & standards.

Ability to read, interpret and follow method statements and procedures, specifications, drawings, and other discipline related project and engineering documentation.

Education

ITI or diploma in mechanical.

Experience

3 years of relevant experience in a shipyard / oil & gas industry, or related field.

2 years of experience in commissioning field involved in permits and lock out tag out activities.
