Synopsis

The Manager Defect Management is responsible for managing and controlling aircraft technical defects to ensure the best reliability and OTP is achieved across the entire Etihad fleet. This role ensures close monitoring and follow up for solutions regarding fleet wide defects, chronic failures of system and components, health monitoring trends and reliability alerts striving for efficient rectification based on costs and time-frame.

Accountabilities

- Ensure that all maintenance is carried out on time in accordance with the approved maintenance data.
- Ensure all defects, Non-Routines/Workorders, defect deferrals are evaluated and actioned in a timely manner.
- Monitor the standards during the daily review meeting on Etihad aircraft in terms of delays, aircraft system status / cabin / IFE maintenance in order to meet the standards of performance.
- Monitor all repetitive defects on Etihad fleet and ensuring pro-active rectification is tasked accordingly.
- Ensure effective communication links between MCC and all concerned parties are maintained.
- Lead the defect management team ( Fleet/Cabin/Structures Specialists ) to ensure detailed review of defect behaviour and patterns across the fleet, solutions are formulated and/or requests to manufacturers (aircrafts and components) are made for conclusive rectification.
- Work closely with Fleet Management and Maintenance Planning) and review aircraft technical status in relation to the level of deferred defects, spares, aircraft parts loans and any technical activity across the fleet; in order to ensure the maximum technical dispatch level and high-quality maintenance standards.
- Perform analysis on all technical delays and initiate preventative measures to improve the dispatch reliability.

REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience

- Aircraft maintenance license (ICA0 II) or equivalent Bachelor's degree in the field of Aeronautical, Mechanical or Electrical/Electronic engineering.
- A minimum of 10 years aviation industry experience is required including 5 years in Maintenance Control.
- In-depth knowledge of Maintenance and Engineering regulations (Specifically GCAA and EASA), Maintenance Planning and Production Planning process and industry best practices.
- Strong leadership, communication, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
