JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE

Employment: Full Time

THE ROLE

Reporting directly to the Senior Design Manager, the Design Manager (Roads) will be required to provide input to the senior management on design delivery related matters and be fully responsible for the successful delivery of their assigned services and/or project component, for the duration of the Services. The Design Manager (Roads) will work in coordination with the project management team to ensure the project's design stage objectives are met.

Project Description

As a member of our Project Management Consultant (PMC) team, you'll oversee a diverse portfolio of projects that contribute to Abu Dhabi's growth. This includes developing essential infrastructure like transportation networks and utilities, alongside public spaces that improve connectivity throughout the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. You'll also play a role in shaping thriving communities by managing the development of residential housing projects and ensuring the quality of new educational facilities. Furthermore, your expertise will be crucial in overseeing the development of mosques and maximizing urban space through infill development projects. In short, this PMC role offers a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on Abu Dhabi's built environment.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

- Conduct design reviews and provide technical guidance to the team
- Ensure the design aligns with client requirements, and is in compliance with current UAE legislation, industry standards and specifications where appropriate
- Manage all aspects of the roads design production process to ensure the overall design is aligned to and directly supports the achievement of program's strategic objectives
- Participate in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools and partnerships to manage the design and its approval, across the project stakeholders
- Assist the Senior Design Manager in the preparation of a detailed project plan, as part of the Project Management Plan, for the roads design phases of the program
- Manage the day-to-day roads design monitoring activities and resources and actively participate in the design team meetings
- Ensure that all roads design related project KPIs, targets, directions and instructions are communicated to all relevant project stakeholders in a clear and timely manner
- Coordination between other disciplines
- Provide status reporting regarding roads design milestones, deliverable, dependencies, risks and issues, communicating across leadership
- Participate and/or drive feasibility studies, vendor selections and proposals for evaluation by appropriate key stakeholders
- Act as an internal quality control check for the roads design documentation
- Ensure that designs are proceeding according to scope, schedule, budget and quality standards
- Manage design issues and risks to mitigate impact to baseline program
- Extensive understanding of project and program management principles, methods and techniques

Requirements:
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

- BSc in Civil Engineering, Transport Planning or a closely related field
- Design of infrastructure projects within a Consulting environment in Abu Dhabi
- Minimum of 10 years overall experience
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role
- Minimum of 5 years working in Middle East
- A deep understanding of road and highway design principles, as well as local regulations related to road and highway design in Abu Dhabi
- Excellent report writing and communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD and other industry standard software as applicable to role
- Exhibit exceptional interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
- A high standard of spoken and written English, Arabic speaking advantageous
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to prioritize competing demands
