At GEMS SRI, our creative learning environments are enriched through hands-on, practical work. We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-focused Design Technology & Art Technician to support the day-to-day running of DT and Art labs, ensuring safe, well-stocked, and inspiring spaces for student exploration.

Skills

Salient responsibilities:

  • Support the preparation and organisation of practical lessons in DT and Art.
  • Maintain tools, machinery, and materials to ensure safe usage and availability.
  • Assist with demonstrations and student supervision during lessons as required.
  • Prepare resources in line with lesson plans and curriculum needs.
  • Maintain inventories and reorder materials in consultation with teachers.
  • Support the display of student work and contribute to a creative classroom environment.
  • Uphold safety procedures and conduct regular checks on tools and equipment.
  • Assist with project preparation and cleanup before and after sessions.
  • Follow all health and safety and school protocols as outlined by GEMS.

    • Qualifications:

  • Diploma or relevant certification in Design Technology, Fine Art, or a related field preferred.
  • Prior experience in a school workshop, art room, or makerspace.
  • Working knowledge of hand tools, equipment, and creative materials.
  • Well-organised, dependable, and comfortable supporting students in a hands-on setting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative attitude.
  • Organised, reliable, and capable of working independently and as part of a team.
